Hello!

I've recently been quite neurotic with creating my characters, making sure they are absolutely perfect before playing. As I was creating a character, I stepped away for a bit (well, overnight) and realized I didn't like they way they looked. So I started a new one.

When I went to go enter the name, which I had deleted only minutes before, it was gone. Quick snag? Perhaps, but I checked again with an alt, and the same issue arose (This time there was NO way this name was taken).

Is this intentional? To have the names be considered taken despite being freed up by deletion? Or is there a turnaround on names (tried again 30 minutes later)?

I know what you mean about trying to get the look "just right". Here is something I do to help prevent my names from being sniped:

Before deleting the character you want to re-do, go to the character creation screen and select your class, race, alliance, and spend as much time as you want making your choice perfect.

Then, without actually choosing a name and entering the game, hit the "back" button, delete the character in question, then quickly select "create character". All of the choices you previously selected will still be saved.

Quickly enter the name of the character you just deleted, and off you go. This way, the name is only on "the market" for 10-15 seconds.

I'm guessing since their servers are set up the way they are and nothing is 100% right now on their end, once you delete a character, probably stays on their server for 30 days or next maintenance to clear cache or whatever. I want to change a character of mine also, but had this exact fear of losing my name temp or perm. So I'm waiting til more stability.

OP , i have created MANY chars over and over and over , with the same names , never had this problem.

I have this one char with a "famous names" ( i guess not many players from the 80s :P) i always delete for up to 10/20 mins i never lost , and other 7 with names i dont want to lose and that i know people want.

I use the method @Gothic said , but i delete my less famous char to open the slot, and i never lost a name , just be fast , really fast.
