Question About User ID and Real Name

When other players PM you or you are on a guild list I understand that it is not your character name that appears (which is fine). My question is that in our accounts on the ESO website I also have my real name listed (MY USER ID IS NOT MY REAL NAME).

So are others seeing my User ID or my real name from my account? Thanks.

Not exactly sure what you're asking, but I'll tell you what I know: what other people see when they friend you or in guild is your @handle which is listed on your account page. The forum name is separate from this.

Your character names are seen in zone chat etc, but your @handle is seen when you're in a friend's list or guild list, and when you chat in guild.

Pretty much what Babylon said. To be frank if you're that worried about others seeing your real name then you should have thought about that prior to creating the account.

In fact as a general rule ALWAYS think twice about using your real name as an account login ID if there's a chance that said information could be public. With how rampant identity theft is in this day and age one cannot be too careful. In fact look in game: there's already gold sellers/power levelers spamming their "services." That alone tells me there's already a handful of compromised ESO accounts or credit card info floating around. Granted the credit card info could have just as easily come from someone who plays WoW, Rift, ToR, ect. However it should be enough to make one think about potentially using their real name for either their account or a character.

ESO account page shows a User ID and then Account Name (which is my real name). I do not know what @handle means.

    Which is shown in game?

The User ID is your @handle.

If your account User ID is Publius_Scipio it would show as @Publius_Scipio to others in-game for friends and guild lists.

Thanks. Does anyone see real name from account (not User ID, account name listed on website, first name and last name)? Does the name (where they ask for first and last) have to be real name?

Thanks. Is the first and last name they ask for required to be your actual name for the account to work?

I'm not sure if it is required that it be accurate, but it probably is a good idea to put your actual name. If you are worried about it you could try the following:

Example: for John Smith, you could put John S.

    Just a suggestion. :)
