I have had a problem for a few days now where all the npcs names just say offline and in my quest journal it says unknown quest. This is keeping me from playing the game. This has been happening for three days now and I have called customer service, sent them an email, opened up a ticket in game and wrote on the forums and I have not received any help with my problem at all. As a loyal customer who has bought and played all the elder scrolls games I thought they would take better care of us, but I see that is not true. Since the people who are getting paid to help me are not, I am turning to the community to see if they have a solution to my problem.

Calm down, the game just launched. ZOS had a busy time during early access, and I'm sure it's not much better now, after launch, with the server problems and everything else.

On that note, have you tried reinstalling or repairing the game files? Sounds like a significant number of files are broken, or not communicating properly with the server.

    Hi @murbawt ,

There could be a problem in the UserSetting.txt file that is causing NPC's to show as offline. Here is how you can modify this file in order to resolve the problem.
    • Go to your "My Documents/The Elder Scrolls Online/Live" folder
    • Check to see if there is a file called "UserSettings.txt" in there.
    • If there is a file called "UserSettings.txt" do the following.
    • Open the file "UserSettings.txt" in Notepad, and delete all the content in it.
    • Copy and paste the text quoted at the bottom of this post.
    • Save and close the file.
    • Restart your launcher.

If there is NOT a file called "UserSettings.txt, do the following:
    • Open the Notepad program and paste in the text quoted in the "spoiler"
    • Save the file as "UserSettings.txt" in your My Documents/The Elder Scrolls Online/Live folder.
    • Restart your launcher.

Failing what ZOS_BillE has said. Try disabling your firewall and fire the game up. If it doesn't work then make sure you re-enable it. I suppose you have reset your router already?

.. how you definitely qualify as insane! ;)

Only repeating the same action 10 times ..eh.. ´bout half way there.

At 20 though the achievement is definitely unlocked. >:)
