American Express users are singled out?

From the billing FAQ:
Players setting up their subscription plan using Visa, MasterCard or PayPal may see an initial transaction against their account. However, this transaction is only temporary. The charge represents an authorization check against the account provided, and will be removed once the authorization check is complete.

Players using American Express, Webmoney, ideal, PaySafeCard, or Giropay to set up their subscription plan will be see the entire charge applied against their account immediately.

So if I use Visa or MasterCard, the initial $14.99 payment is simply an auth fee that will be refunded after 3-10 days.

If I use AE, I actually have to pay for the second month in advance in order to play the first.

Is that correct? The other posts talk about "credit cards" not being forced to buy a second month in order to play the first, but American Express is also a credit card, right?

It's probably something to do with the higher fee on every amex purchase.

Is that fee high enough to warrant make a customer pay for something 30 days in advance? And what if that customer doesn't wish to continue playing after the initial 30 days? Then they have to go through the hassle of getting that refunded. Honestly even charging 14.99 temporarily as an authorization is ***. What's to say I have that 15 bucks now, but won't have it 30 days from now? If I don't have it I don't have it, and that's all there should be to it.
