Idea for Encounters . . . . Hijacked in Travel

So I have this idea for creating another way to get into Trouble - Random Encounters.

As we all travel to and thru Way shrines, we have the abilities to Travel to Players (free travel), and also there are ways to escape from Cyro or IC by Queuing out. You can also travel out of Cyrodil thru the home base Way shrines.

The idea is when in the Void of traveling you are thrown, dragged, Hijacked off track and Into a Volatile situation.

Way shrine travel should have the Lowest level of chances if any.

Travel to another player should have the next level of a chance but still fairly Low

this hijack CAN be one of the established Dungeons tweaked for this Instance.

If In a group then one player is trying to travel to / from the group the group is Hijacked Also.

NOW Queuing out from Cyro or IC should have the highest level if hijacking and parties should be thrown into the meaner places.

Now There does need to be a way to shut this off, but as a reward the chances for TOP Level Rewards needs to be greatly increased of working your way thru the unintended Adventure.

It would not only be an inconvenience for the player, but also for other players. Imagine you're waiting for someone and then that person gets dragged into some dungeon and is busy for a while. No, thank you.

My gaming time is very limited, and I may not have the time to devote to a random encounter at any random moment (especially into some of the situations you describe), so, Nah, I don't want to be randomly dragged into hostile situations while traveling.
I need to be in full control of my destinations, whether it's when using a wayshrine or coming out of Cyro or IC.

I'd absolutely love to be porting in to join my weekly trial run and get sent into vMoS solo or something.

Or be porting out of cyro to log off to go to work and be forced to play a ToT match first.

Or be doing a survey on a character set up for overland farming and get thrown into a trial.

Or be a brand new player leaving Kenarthi's Roost for the first time and have this happen.

Yeah I'm sure people would love this.

I think most of us have limited time to play and specific things we want to do.

Lots of implementation caveats, but the basic idea is interesting. Kudos for coming up with it!
Please stop making requests for game features. ZOS have enough bad ideas as it is!

For a surprise effect, for people who like that, maybe random portals could just open somewhere as a random encounter (just like you sometimes get a beggar or those people with the campfire right now)? Or maybe a magic box oder what ever. And when you click that, you'll emerge somewhere else. So it would still be the player's choice whether they want to participate in that or not.

Sure, to be totally fair I think it could be fun if it was an entirely optional thing like a random portal spawning somewhere with a NPC next to it (who explains that entering the portal could take you to a random place and asks if you want to proceed).

No. Getting somewhere quick? Way shrine. Want random, time consuming encounters? Walk or ride. It's already there, in the game, if you aren't too lazy to do it.

No, I hated that in Zelda 2 the Adventure of Link and I also hated it in Dragon Age. Let's stop it with the "good idea fairy" and let ZoS fix the stuff they never finished like hybridization instead of distracting them with stuff like that.

introduced in D&D this has already been in a lot of games (Dragons Dogma 2, Dragon Age Origina, BG 1 & 2)

what might be interesting and known from single player games (where times follows you and "pauses" for your encounter) might not be as good as an idea for an online live game (where time goes on - no matter what you do) with events you miss and people who are waiting for you.

I always found them annoying in the said games btw B)

Yeah, I’ve never been a fan of random encounters in any other game, even single player ones. It’s just a frustrating interruption in whatever you were planning on doing. Sometimes the frequency of random encounters is so high that you cannot get to your intended destination.

This would be a much better way of doing it.

As other people have said this would be horrible for anyone joining any kind of group activity because it would mess things up for the entire group to get dragged into a "surprise" activity that is not what they wanted or planned to be doing. (When I was reading the OP's post I was expecting it to say travel to a player would be a way to guarentee it wouldn't happen, for exactly this reason, not make it even more likely you get kidnapped and delayed.)

I appreicate that for people with a lot of time to play, who are probably therefore bored with their usual routine, it might sound like a fun novelty to get told you're going to do something else with your time. But I don't have much time for ESO most evenings and already know what I want to do when I log in, so being kidnapped and redirected to what the game has chosen for me would be extremely annoying.

Except in reality I'd teleport out again, or log out and back in or switch characters or whatever it took to get out of this enforced "fun" and back to things I actually find fun and had chosen to play. Which would still be annoying but at least it wouldn't waste as much of my time.

It would be much better to make it optional. Put a portal next to the wayshrine or wherever else you think people should be kidnapped so people with time to waste on it can see where they end up and people who already know what they want to do with their time can get on with it.
