Why is there a que?

Just tried to log on a new toon for pvp and there is a que but I thought zos said there was no pvp cap so why is que 100+

Seems counterproductive to cap the population, if testing it is the whole point?

I imagine the cap is much higher than for the normal campaigns, I mean there are a *ton* of people in Cyro. But I'm guessing there's probably some eventual limit to what one instance can support.

Right? Also is the hammer coming out as well? If ZOS really wants to test it the hammer should come out

They said they were going to remove the cap all together I thought

I honestly can't remember, if they said that then I agree there really shouldn't be a queue. I'm just totally guessing that there may be like an actual hard limit at some level as to how many players can be in one instance. Maybe there is also more participation than they predicted / planned for.

I know they did a stream and a couple Q&A's, but more communication is always a good thing - would be nice to see them respond to questions like this today and maybe provide some info on how the test is going from their point of view.

Its just a huge number of players playing. I think the poplock is currently at 250-300 for each faction, but not unlimited

They said on the stream this test would remove the population cap so there should be no que at all

I can't recall them ever saying that. They said something about the cap would rise, not that they would eliminate it.

I don't recall them saying they were removing it as well. I could be wrong - but I think they said they just wanted to see how high they could increase it basically.

It should be the original cap, the 300ish for every faction cap the game launched with

But why? Stress test requires... idk... stress.

Remove the cap. See what happens. Let's test it until it breaks. That's what I do with any tech I am stress testing... at least I try to.

From my memory they said they wanted to increase the population cap back to what it was during the games launch in 2014 not make it unlimited

I think not having a cap kind of ruins being able to test what works and what doesn't. If there's no cap and there's like 500+ per faction and the game can't handle it and then Cyrodill repeatedly crashes it doesn't really help with finding out anything.

It's much better to test what the game can handle by increasing the cap every test day (or whatever time frame, but I'm not sure if they've said this is on the cards) until you get to the point where performance is horrible and you know what the limit is.

Queue moves faster. It's like a line at a restaurant with 300 tables is gonna move faster than a line at a restaurant with 40 tables. The queues length is longer, but queue time is similar to Mayhem.

So far I’ve wasted two hours on multiple toons because of bugged queues. It will move for a bit, then stop and I’ll be stuck at the same number for 20+ mins. Some guild mates are having the same problem.

So while I’d love to participate in the test it seems I am unable to because once again something has been broken in the game by introducing a new thing.

At first I saw not very interesting rewards for this Gold Pursuit, so I decided to do other stuff yesterday.

Then I saw everyone talking about good performance in Cyrodiil, so I wanted to see it myself - then long queue made entering Cyrodiil impossible.

Then I saw thread that entering Cyrodiil now resets some of new PvP set collections... Looks like every factor is against my participation in this test

Now I am actually glad that there is no nice collectible reward for this

The test is not on Console yet correct? Are you on Console?

On PS4/5 last night there was a queue, I'm assuming due to the Golden Pursuit as I didn't see an option for any campaigns other than the normal ones.

I encountered bugged queue last night. This is an ongoing issue but I think the event is making it more obvious.

iirc, ZOS didn't specify zero population cap, but that they wanted to return to the caps from the start of ESO which would equate to a few hundred per faction.

There definitely seems to be that many players online (at least in the first couple of days), so I'm not surprised we are hitting the increased caps and still have a queue. Especially with how well (performance wise) the test has been going.
