Sometime dungreon hm mechanics 100% aim me

This has bothered me for a long time but I didn't have a forum account before..
yesterday i help a friend go tank VCA HM last boss
we wipe 5 time but finish this,but..in there 5 wipe all link mech 100% aim me+anyone
it not first happen in me,it happen in lastyear when i run SH/BS/SCP hm

It's either bad luck, or it's just in your head (like always picking the slowest lane) or a game mechanic you should learn.

Sometimes the player standing furthest away gets targeted, sometimes it's the closest...

I don't think so, we have combat addon and vc and we know mech is random choose
and it not my first time do these dungreon hm...

There are certain game mechanics that seem to pick a person to target and will target that person unless there's no option to (i.e. they are already dead) unless the group disbands and reforms.

Are you the tank in this situation? It is not a random mechanic. I haven't gone back to do the testing but I'm pretty sure that he links the two closest people of some sort, either two closest people to him or closest person to the person in front of him, maybe something else. Either way, the tank will always get the link unless the tank is further than someone else from the boss (like when I was moving to a new position when link comes out, that's the only time I, as the tank, did not get linked). As healer, I have successfully baited the link by standing next to the tank, in front of the boss.

I will also note that it is not new to be like this, as I healed it back when it came out and that is when I first realized it seems possible to bait the links. People just generally think its random for some reason, maybe one person somewhere said its random and everyone took that and ran, but it's not random.

This happens to me all the time, In public dungeons or delves. I can stand there all day doing light attacks, but as soon as I use an ability, they focus on me. It doesn't matter how many other players are pounding on the boss mob.

If there’s no taunt, then I think enemies focus the person with the highest damage or the highest healing, preferring to target the healer. I may be wrong on this point though, not something I’ve personally paid attention to.

and distance from the boss can play in some fights. Also, when speaking anecdotally as we are here our memories can make it seem like we are always getting targeted.

Not knowing what mechanic they are speaking of makes it difficult to respond appropriately.

For the Coral final boss HM tether specifically, it does seem to prioritize the tank a lot. As a tank, I get the tether about 80% of the time. There have even been runs where I got every tether.

But it wasn't like this originally. When Coral was first released, the tether targeting was indeed random and I didn't get it more often than other players. But some time within the past year (not sure when exactly), its targeting behavior changed and the tank is targeted far more frequently.

From a trifecta perspective, this is nice since the tank is better able to handle the damage from the tether. But from a just-get-a-clear perspective, this change is pretty nasty because if the tank is involved in a tether mishap, it's a wipe and you're not recovering.

I'm not sure what you're talking about with SWR HM. If it's the stack AoE, I haven't particularly noticed how often certain players get it because either way everyone's involved with the mechanic.

For CA HM, any time I run it as tank I get the tether, and a friend of mine (tank) was also complaining about the tether (also saying it wasn't always that tank would get tethered, so maybe Code is right that it did change). That said, again, I haven't gone back to do testing, my observations are from looking at logs and recent personal experience (darn you, CA tri). It could be that it's something to do with who gets in first or CP like other strange situations, but it's certainly not random.

yes, it stack aoe ,i read this mech is choose one when boss health is higher than 30%
