Game freezes on load screen after login

Windows 11 PC/NA. Frequently the game freezes on the load screen between login and character selection. If any other app is open, selecting it with ALT/TAB shows only a black screen, though its window can be closed from the ALT/TAB display. The frozen game window can't be closed that way. It requires "Sign out" from the Task Manager menu, which closes any open app. When Windows restarts after sign out, the game usually will load normally. I have talked to other players who have experienced the same bug.

Getting this bug way too often as well, started with gold road.

same here, and CTRL ALT SUPPR. doesn't work and but me on black when i try to open the task manager, i need to "disconnect".

What do I do if ESO is crashing with the error "ESO has stopped working"?

Hi Bill,

Yes, i already repair the game.
The game doesn"t even launch till the character selection so why this could be add-on related ?
My drivers are up to date as well as Windows.
I change multiple times my graphics settings in the game recently, trying to increase performance. Whatever, still happens even with low specs.

Thanks for giving a rundown of the steps you've taken to get this resolved. Since none of them helped, the next thing you can do is open a ticket with customer support.
