I am having the same bug as well. everyone around me is also trying to make this work and absolutely nothing is happening. -
Glad to see it's not just me - there's a group of people here all trying to click on the crystal and nothing happens.

✭Also unable to get Fatestealer to spawn.
My guess is that this quest is low priority until they can make sure all game-breakers are fixed.
On the plus-side, I'm definitely noticing a drop in those since last patch, so this one should hit the priority list soon.
