Any chance we can let poisons proc off of unarmed attacks?

Before you say, "that's dumb though," yes you're correct. But yeah, I have one character that, for funsies, I play completely unarmed. They've never equipped a weapon ever, and have done many quests, the whole main questline and punched many, MANY dragons/world bosses without ever hitting anything with a weapon.

That being said doing any of that is, of course, an immense test of patience, because killing anything at all takes forever. That's my fault of course--this is a self-imposed handicap after all. I accept that things are going to take longer.

But maybe, juuuuuuust maybe they could throw me one tiny little bone? I have in my collection of free crown items you have given over the years over ten-thousand crown poisons, and thought to myself "Well, I'm never going to use these on my other 19 characters that have actual, working weapon enchantments to work with. Maybe I can apply this poison to these wicked Argonian claws of mine to help offset the gaping hole in my DPS."

But alas, they do not work while unarmed. I don't really think they would actually help all that much if I'm being honest, but something would be better than nothing. We're never, ever getting a proper unarmed skill tree (or any new weapon skill tree for that matter), so outside of a new mythic for unarmed attacks that's the best I can hope for.

    I fully agree. That'd be awesome ngl, having an Argonian whose claws do poison damage. And almost everybody wears gloves or gauntlets, so even the non-beast races can poison their fists too.

    And never say never with an unarmed skill line. It'd be probably a lot easier to add in unarmed as a new skill than something like spears or crossbows, as you don't need a weapon model for the fists, as there IS no "weapon", so no need to make 200 new motifs or whatever number we're at rn. All it really needs is a passive that when fully upgraded, lets you do roughly the same damage as those with weapons, so its not an unfair disadvantage in the end.

    Of course there's also the question of what about set bonuses, which if something has to be equipped for that, then just make like bracelets in Jewelrycrafting that can't be seen, so no new motif, but can be made to let you do different types of damage like physical for those who want to just do martial arts, poison/bleed for those dastardly enough, or more magic/fire/shock/ice for the magic users. It'd probably actually be better if it was two skill lines introduced for unarmed, one close-range (physical) based, and one long-ranged (magic) based.

    I don't know what kind of build you are using but if you have access to a skill that gives you the Empower buff you could try using a Heavy Attack set - I do this and my punches hit harder.

    Normal light attacks while unarmed do very low damage, I can't imagine going that way...

    In any case though, I don't see why not, but I can see why it could be harder to implement since I'd guess poision looks for a weapon to attach to, and 'Fists/Unarmed' isn't seen as a weapon of it's own. An Unarmed skill line woild be cool though, I've a friend who always wants to do it, but damage is just so urgh they never stick with it long in the rare times they even play anymore, so even more credit to you for sticking with it!

    That's a neat idea!

    Also maybe even introduce some unique invisible Jester Festival type gauntlets that fill the weapon slot, so you can apply weapon glyphs as well.

    Even if it barely does any base damage on its own nor scales with any skill trees.

    Maybe even make it a Mythic that just allows you to use your fists and it scales with the Dual Wield line or something.

    If it's a Mythic it can be replicated/transmuted with an enchantment which would be nice.

    Like Gloves of the Pugilist Mythic.

    If you're into Dragonknight RP then you already get unarmed poison attacks with Venomous Claw.

    Besides touching the face, many poisons may act being absorbed through the skin.
    Even if we put poison on hand gear, it may be absorbed. It is a very dangerous practice.

    I guess it might make sense if we had any raisable skill like "Poisoning". Well, it would be a different game I think.

    Right now I'm running a tanky build with Oakensoul/7 druids braid/1 Domihaus/1 swarm mother just to maximize resources & buffs.

    I figured if my damage is gonna be garbage no matter what I do, survivability needed to go up drastically to compensate.

    I think first ZOS needs to introduce unarmed "weapon" skill line, then introduce new "weapon" type "arm wraps" or something on which we can apply poison or flame or whatever.

    I run without pants and boots, using 2 pieces of Shadowrend for the clannfear pet + Oakensoul + Sergeant's Mail.
    She's a Warden so has access to major + minor Breach via Deep Fissure. I'm not 100% sure but I think I have The Lover as Mundus.
    I have the Bear always out together with a tank companion.

    I have not found out her limits yet, but she was able to clear the Eastmarch Werewolf boss without problems. Together with 2 other players she got the Chimera WB down without dying.
    I am not expecting her to be perfect but she's fun 😊
