I remember what feels like at least a year or so at this point them saying that X update was supposed to help with the super long downtimes, but the super long downtimes haven't improved at all. I'm curious about what's the deal with that

Why is that important? 10 years of TESO and maintenance days and people keep asking "Why?" instead of being patient.

They are fixing, adjusting, improving, adding or preparing things in advance for stuff coming, etc., same usual things they have been doing for 10 years now.

Just wait mate. No need to keep asking the same questions all the time.

imagine how long downtimes would be if they started to change everything everyone wanted changing all the time on the forum

I think people are just fed up with things never really improving and staying the same. 10 years in you'd expect ZoS to have maintenance down to a fine art by now and as such reduced the downtime. Alas.

The game keeps growing, so there is more to fix. Keeping downtimes constant is progress.

Come on! Things are as they are. Every single game goes through the same maintenance processes and waiting times. Sometimes more, sometimes less, but similar things. Even after 35 years of gaming.

If maintenance lasts 8 hours it's because they need that time. I can assure you they are not adding extra time to go drink a coffee or something. And if they can complete maintenance earlier they will, as they have done countless times.

Devs work hard every week. After 10 years, being this even the celebrations year, people really need to give Devs a break and stop complaining about every single thing all the time.

Some things just take time. ESO isn't a small game, so we can expect that the megaserver consists of a lot of computers that need to be updated, backed up, loaded, configured, restarted, and a ton of database data that needs to be backed up and updated. The game data isn't getting smaller with time, either.

They have been taking less than the advertised time for the maintenances lately, so I would go ahead and guess that they decided saying it will take 8 hours and then finishing in 6 hours is better than doing the opposite.

People need to remember that ZOS used to prolong some maintenance in the past. Lately, I see they've been quite on time with this.

They are pulling their weight - good job ZOS folks, good job indeed.
