CoD is a really poor comparison to ESO. Totally different type of game. CoD is simplistic and repetitive at best. It's combat isn't exactly some shining star of the gaming industry. Yeah, you need to pay attention, but you do in ESO as well when playing the content which is intended to be challenging in this way. PVP and endgame PVE require more concentration in ESO than CoD. Heck, Skyrim without mods has better combat than CoD.

CoD offers nothing different or original. Its combat mechanics have no place in an MMORPG, especially not one which is meant to be more inviting to casual players while still catering to those who desire a challenge.

Do we need an optional SEPARATE hardmode for overland? Sure. I've often advocated for a challenge mode for overland. But we don't need a complete change that alienates a very large percentage of the player base that does not want a harder overland. (And I wouldn't model that game mode on CoD- I'd want something far more interesting that CoD)

yeah the overland difficulty atm is not in a good place. part of the appeal of MMOs is sometimes needing help from others to overcome mobs of enemies.

This can even be an optional setting, where if enabled, you would only do 1/2 damage to the enemies, while they would also do some fraction of damage higher to you than normal. That way everyone can still play together in one world tier

“ you would only do 1/2 damage to the enemies”

    That becomes tedious.

Better to just have an option to nerf health but with good health recovery to keep combat fluid, no long pauses to regain health.

Questing in ESO is not group content nor does it need to be. Part of the appeal of eso to a large amount of the player base is that the game can be largely played solo with entierly optional group content.

So tired of these threads nearly every day now. The mods cannot close them fast enough in my opinion.

I do hard mode content but the hubby does not. He doesn’t want to run group dungeons to get gear, he doesn’t want to dig up antiquities, he doesn’t want to press every skill on his skill bars and bar swap or light weave, he just wants to have fun.

Even with crafted gear I can defeat the quest boss in the public dungeon boss in Telvanni Peninsula easily, but he has struggled with that one for weeks. Everyone should not have to be an end-game player to do overland content. If you increase the difficulty, players like him will leave.

If you want difficult content, do a group dungeon hard mode or join a trials progression team.

EDIT: I should add that I am on stamblade and he is on a Dragonknight. It is all about experience and skill level.

If you read my posts, you would know that I recommend ESO to find a solution which satisfies both types of players: eternally unskilled newbies and regular gamers who don’t want overland to be extremely easy and very boring.

Combat sucks when a blind person can defeat enemies. Boring as hell.

In CoD you kill fast but also die quickly if not paying attention to the game.

The problem with ESO overland is that even a naked player has so much health that he/she is always in godmode, so you can win fights even if you close your eyes and just randomly spam skills.

This is an interesting topic in my opinion since players wants harder overland content..?

Overland content? You want harder wb or what? There is no overland content in my opinion that can be adjusted.

I find it funny that this person posts this monthly. If ZOS were to give these overland complainers what they want, they would lose half their player base.

    exactly lol

they did use to have a form of vet overland: pre one tamriel + pre nerf craglorn

the zone wasnt heavily populated because it was so difficult, many of the delves in there were equal or harder to many of the group dungeons on vet HM (only non dlc dungeons at the time, but it was still more challenging then lol)

there was many requests to actually make the zone easier so that more people could actually enjoy the quests in there

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (fully filled out with current game), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

in progress: acquiring mundus stones (currently only have the thief)

feel free to stop by and use the facilities

I STILL encounter new players struggling in overland and asking for help in /zone. And as long as this remains true, my response to this complaint will be the same it's always been: Go do content aimed at you, and stop demanding the content aimed at new players cater to you instead.
