Every time it's a nice style - but we can't dye it.

Loving the design of the Crowborne Hunter Hat. Not loving the grey feathers. If it is supposed to be a crow, why are the feathers not black? Why can I not dye them the color I want?

Why does ZOS do this? Give us styles consisting of large parts that cannot be dyed.

It is such a shame because so many players simply won't wear the item because it doesn't go with the rest of their look. All that effort put into designing a new armor piece, (which looks awesome - if only it were dyeable), just for it to be consigned to the style bin along with the rest of the undyeable head wear in the game.

Disappointed. What a waste :/

Those feathers have always looked weird to me too. :/ All the normal crow related stuff like emotes and mementos have black feathered crows.

Ultimately I don't really care what the default feather color is, I'd just want them to be dyeable.

Agreed. And including costumes in this. I bought the Sheogorath costume, thinking it would look nice in black. Except the jacket doesn't dye black. Tried green; it looks grey. Tried orange; it looks red. The pants are fine, but the boots & gloves are undyeable. I've now got one red pant leg and one blue, but the jacket is two shades of lilac paired with silver grey boots and gloves.

The fact that the didn't include the wings on that polymorph...my disappointment is immeasurable.

But I agree wholly with this thread. Give us dyeable feathers! They create these wonderful motifs, then ruin them with a poor choice of dye slots. Sometimes you get really great dye slots, sometimes the ones they choose make you question your own sanity.

Totally agree. One of my favorite styles ever and might just replace my traditional Wyrd outfit... but we can't dye the feathers. Please ZOS make your next QOL update be an additional dye slot.

Not the only problem with the outfit, unfortunately.
Giant hip pad thingies. Again. annoying crotch flap that clips through everything. Again.
Also, the leg armor just straight up clips through your character's leg when you run, all by itself. Why did they design an armor piece that has clipping issues with the basic character model!?

The main point was indeed that we should be able to dye all parts of costumes, armor/weapon sets and styles.

ZOS knows how important fashion is to most of it's ESO player base, so why make items with parts that cannot be dyed?

I just don't get it, clearly!

As someone has already said, if you purchase a costume or armor/weapon set from the crown store, you have no idea how your items will dye. This then results in a waste of money, if you purchase something, which you later come to discover, cannot be, or has parts of it that cannot be, dyed in the way you envisioned.

Would ZOS ever issue a refund for such items? Of course not! So perhaps instead they should just allow all parts of items to be dyed and dyed properly to the colors chosen. What is the point in putting the effort in to get the dye if, when you apply your void pitch black to an item, it looks... grey.

So now, before purchasing a wearable item from the Crown Store, I troll online to see if the costume I want has previously been available and if someone has dyed it. If I cannot dyed find examples of the costume I want, I simply won't purchase it. Again this is surely a loss of revenue for ZOS.

Just the fact alone that dyes and final dyed product can look so different is lame and annoying, and in a digital world of computer code - has zero rational reason, especially as was claimed that 'you're dying different materials, so the product wouldn't be guaranteed to be the same'.
The problem with society these days is that no one drinks from the skulls of their enemies anymore.

This all needs to be a future QoL update.

Dyes need to dye as shown. None of this black dyeing as grey; especially for paid costumes!

No more parts of armor or costumes where you can't change the color!

And pretty please! Add the option to hide floating hip plates and crotch flaps!!

Dye channels always seem like an afterthought unfortunately. I suspect this may be a limitation on really old engine code. Kind of annoying that material textures cannot be altered except via very specific colors too, so if you want something to look shiny or matted you are usually stuck to one or few rare colors or whatever the motif decides to do; it is very difficult to make stuff look right. That's one thing I always liked about Warframe, they've updated a ton of their engine tech so that players can have far more options to alter their characters now.

ANd to add what parts of the item belong to which dye channel seems kind of random.

It would be nice if when you highlight a dye channel the parts of the costume that will be dyed that shade would light up or something.

Yeah, absolutely right. Lots of cool stuff has been ruined by having parts that can’t be dyed. To make it worse these parts are often obnoxiously bright or, even worse, a strange color. I’ve never understood this.

I sometimes wonder if these limits are not intentional so as to keep players wanting more styles, particularly from the crown store. I’m not really a forum conspiracy buff, or one to complain about the crown store, but it does make me wonder.

I’ve often wished that the same pieces of each style had the same color channels, so you could switch styles and keep the same colors. Seems like I always have to change them, and there is no way at least on console to know exactly what color you used before.

I have every motif available, except the one that just started dropping (Scribes of Mora) and I don't use soooo many of them because ZoS insists on adding undyeable accents, whether it's feathers, fur edging, bones, or what not, I skip those because coming up with a color scheme I like that also doesn't make those accents look awful, is very hard.

This is exacerbated by not having dyes work consistently from set to set, you have sets like Refrabricated, Glass and the one from the last event, that look washed out and then look terrible if mixed with another set and they look ugly with the washed out colors.

This happens on a lot of costumes as well, with undyeable accents or inconsistent dye coloring.

When I dye my character's outfits: Most times I get creative and make my own color themes.

So with update 40 will another dye channel be added? I hope so.

The dye system should be improved.
I would love to be able to dye all pieces of my character's outfit. Also to be able to create gradients, change the shading to a different color, if something glows then able to change the color of the glow, etc.

Different dye types and maybe textured dyes like ones that are more iridescent (iridescent scales, fabric types, metallic, sparkles, feathers, fur, glass, and crystal materials) that has a slight rainbow gradient based on lighting and angle. Holographic ones too.

Then not just clothes (armor, weapons, hats, motifs, and costumes) should be dyable. There should also be the option to dye hair, body/face markings, polymorphs, major/minor adornments, and mounts.

Doesn't even really need to light up as that may skew what you think it will look like. Just preview the parts of the corresponding channel in the color you've selected. Either way, it's an excellent idea.
