Is 2023 and we still don't have black hairs for high elves... why is that?

There are some High elf NPCS in the game that have black hairs, but we still don't have the option to select black hairs for our altmer characters in the character creation menu to this day.. why is that?

Because the game hasn't really touched the options available at all.

This reminds me of how plenty of NPCs exist that have lighter skin tones but for some reason we can't.

Honestly they should just let us recolour our hair via dyes. Sometimes I want my character to have black hair, other times silver, other times blond, etc.

I agree with this. Hair dyes with all the natural hair colors, new hair colors, and unnatural hair colors(any color of the rainbow). Should be added into the game.

To add on there should be hair highlights options, highlight color, hair accessories, hair accessories colors, gradient options, and hair should be animated with realistic physics so it's not glued to the head.

Hair should also get different textures, higher quality textures, realistic shading, lighting, and better quality bolder colors.

Eso should build up and get more character customization options and more stuff that's dyeable in the game.


Other stuff that should be dyeable:
The costumes and dyes UI looks kind of empty (it only has hat and costume there) on the 2nd tab. Body/face markings and major/minor adornments.

Then make it so permanent account bound dyes can be unlocked other ways besides only by achievements.

This will give players more abilities to create (and or change the looks of) their own character exactly how they want, more imagination and creativity, and to give characters more personality.

But playable Nords can't get the shade of ginger that some NPCs can, e.g. Trynhild.

There are several colors for hair/eyes/skin that are unavailable to players, and those aren't things that would show in the 'Collections' menu. Since the PC interface uses the 10x2 color grid, it's not like they could easily put them in, but I think Console UI has a slider instead that they might be able to add to.

The one I'm really salty on is the fact that Orcs only get shades of grey and brown for skintones, but there are Orcs with green skin in game (see Mighty Mordra, Captain Graalug, or Brulak). I'd kill for my main to have healthy green skin like he's supposed to.

Adding to the missing things: Imperials can't have properly black hair either, but bretons can.

Character customisation could do some work, by adding some extra skintones (like green-ish tones for orcs), as well as hair and eye-colours for races we see npcs use.

Don't want dyes to be used, though, that'd be a mess, but the colour palette we have for skins, eyes and hair an definitely be expanded on.

Then we of course have the adornments colours which is so weird. Why are they tied to hair colour of all things. Not every colour is available for all races either. Like khajiit gets lots of different golds to choose between, but not much option of other colours like coppers or silvers and such.

My favorite char is a ginger wood elf. I never even considered it might be unusual as it looks soooo good.

The limited number of hair colors in this game is really shocking in general, and a huge missed opportunity for the Crown Store.

Give me pink hair to match my pink horse!

I agree. That galaxy horse in the picture gave me an idea of a new collectable skin to be added into the game.

Is it the engine limitations that keep them from including this stuff?

As far as i know this is a topic that's been around since 2014 at least, so either they like to tease players with unavailable options or they actually can't include stuff like this, which could explain why bought hairstyles aren't available in the character creation screen.

And again, if that's the case, why not simply tell the community? On every single discussion about this stuff i never saw a ZOS response apart from the usual "please be polite to each other" etc.

I mean, I know things are bad with the engine.... but if they're that bad.... yikes.

i think it's just low on zos' to-do list, if it's even on there.

I'd love for it to happen though.
maybe eventually we could get an option to dye our characters hair any dye we have

I just want a hair dye pack like we have for hair styles, adornments, etc. that would allow any color that’s already available on one race to be available on any race.
