I am SICK OF Tales of Tribute

I know there won't be any changes, so this is just venting. But I am SICK OF TALES OF TRIBUTE.

I got 9 of the 10 Necrom music box leads at least 2 weeks ago. Since then I've been doing the TOT PVE dailies every day on two characters. I've opened at least 120 reward coffers. Can I get the lead for the final music box lead? Hell no. I used to be able to enjoy TOT on occasion, but NOT ANYMORE. I want this game to DIE. ZOS, gating a collectible furnishing behind an RNG-determined daily reward is EVIL. Especially something that is, AFAICS from threads on this, a part of the game that is of mixed reception at best. This is just ridiculous.

/rant

And now, back to your regularly scheduled gaming. :-)

    Greetings,

After review we have decided to move this thread to a category we think is more appropriate for this topic (Tales of Tribute, as this thread is regarding Tales of Tribute).

    Thank you for your understanding.

    Thank you for your understanding.

Thank you for your attention. So Tales of Tribute is not part of the game? Thank you for proving the point of the many gamers who don't care about this game. Indeed, this isn't about TOT at all. It's about antiquities. Please try reading before you move something.

Agreed. Used to be on the fence, did as many of the achievements as I could be bothered doing but overall ToT is a big L. I'll iterate what others have said ever since it was introduced, if I wanted to play a card game, I would go play a card game. And I would choose one that I enjoyed.

And this patch the npcs have become more irritating while the rewards are minuscule.

Would gladly erase ToT and replace it with bar games like darts, ***, dice, bowling, literally any kind of bar game, or whatever Tamriel equivalent of these games could be.

Also, this antiquity lead is too painful, and moving general topics off general because they mention other aspects of the game is kinda brain-dead. You're lucky you didn't use the word dungeon or campaign. No one would ever see this again.

Weirdly, and sadly from your perspective, I got the lead on my third day doing one ToT daily each day. The RNGesus of this game is the nightmare.

More RNG woes: my wife and I have been doing the same dungeon a few times a day for weeks. She's down to like 3 items left in the dungeon that can be found, and hasn't gotten the weapon she needs for her build. Better than it used to be, but man oh man, it's gonna be the last thing she gets I swear.

Also, I had trouble getting the last piece for that Arcanist mythic, the one where ya gotta do world boss dailies in Vvardenfell. Did it on 5 characters for two weeks and didn't get it. My wife got it on the first one we did lol. RNG really is something else sometimes, I swear.

This is kind of exactly how I'm feeling about TOT as well. I actually think the card game is fun, when I actively choose to play it, not when I have to play it to get a completely unrelated reward. It's making me not want to play it even for fun. At the very least, make the drop rates for things like the inkwood box 50+%...

Thankfully I got my lead for the music box today, on the 7th or 8th day. I was so afraid it was going to take a month or so like it has for some people.

I feel your pain. I had the same reaction for that lead that was in Coldharbour which is obtained from opening chests. It took me around 125 chest to get it. First I hate that zone, it is not easy to get around in, second finding a chest route was a pain even after finding a map for them.

At some point there should be a trigger after you've opened the chests, or played ToT, or ran a dungeon after the 50th time or so the lead is given to you.

I used to like ToT, but I played it most of the times only for the rewards. Novice NPCs fit the bill nicely, as you could win quickly by flipping all patrons. If I wanted to actually play the game for the game, all I had to do was challenge harder NPCs. Now the novices are annoying to face, as they won't stop flipping patrons, even when the advantage is marginal or non-existent (for example, hitting the crow when you have only 1 coin). It's ridiculous that the match against the grandmaster in the Telvanni Peninsula was less of a headache than a few against novices.

Preempting the "git gud" argument, I finished the questline, beat the founders and that grandmaster from Galen. It's just that the rewards don't justify the time required by the new novice difficulty. It took me about 4-5 dailies to get the music box lead and my reaction when I saw that shiny golden paper in the reward box was to say "wohoo, I don't have to keep playing this!"

Thanks all for your commiseration. It's been several more days with no luck for me. RNGeesus evidently hates me.

And to the poster who commented on Darkshade Caverns, I feel your pain. My wife & I went through that 15-20 times to get her the freakin' leads. Both I and II. And don't get me started on Wayrest Sewers. We worked that for a few weeks and finally gave up. We'll try again someday, when the memories fade. I'd just like to get my second woodworking table, no less my third. Geez.

      RNG SUCKS.

Oh, and agreed also in:re the "novice" difficulty level. I actually think I have a better chance against Proficient than Novice. The Novice NPCs are too aggressive, to the point that it comes to utter dumb luck. Proficient, Expert, even the Masters are as easy to beat as the Novices. I get that they wanted to dial up the difficulty, but for cryin' out loud...Play the game a few times before you change their strategies.

I hope you can find some resource to help. I'm doing,,,okay, but the new difficulty level on the Novice players is idiotic. They're far too aggressive to work for new players. Come on, ZOS. This isn't Dark Souls.

Yup. I still need to grind Wayrest I and II for second copies of the woodworking table and music box. Then eventually a third so I can just buy the stupid thing from the achievement vendor afterwards for the rest of time.

I don't wanna think about how many runs I did to get the first. Honestly would rather grind ToT matches than do that again.

(Also, RNG just stinks. I play ToT very regularly, both PvE and PvP, no inkwood box lead for me either and barely any of the fragments for the emote or houseguest. So, even regular ToT players are being screwed, not just you.)

I gave ToT a honest try when it came out, and I can honestly say I hate this game.
It's a browser game and I hate card based games, always have.
Now I have a NPC yelling at me in major cities everytime I get within earshot to play it.
Annoying? Yes, but I can live with it.
I don't have to participate if I don't want to, right?
      Wrong.
I worked for all the leads for the Necrom music box, until the one I HAVE to play ToT for.
      I won't do it.
Not only to I detest card games, but forcing me to play it makes me hate it that much more.
I wouldnt play it to get the ToT furnishing, and I LOVE housing and collecting leads, I'm not going to give that stupid card game another try for this music box.

I have ADHD and online/browser/real life card games are impossible for me.
I don't have the attention span.
      So are board games.
Scrying furniture for my houses are one of my favorite things, so if I want the music box, which i do, I have to play.
But I can't, so I'll have to do without it.

It's really not unfair that new games in the Elder Scrolls franchise often add new types of gameplay experiences and new lore.

What would be unfair is making Tales the only piece of content in this game that didn't have nice rewards, imo. Unique rewards are an aspect of all types of gameplay.

Or imagine how it is for people who only like PvP, when they need to farm some dungeon, delve, world boss, etc to get a lead for gear they want to use in Cyrodiil. That's not even just a cosmetic, they straight up cannot use gameplay altering equipment without engaging in content they don't enjoy.

In every other event or lead content you can get help from the community. Help in Cyrodiil or you can sneak to complete quests, carries in BGs, assistance for delves, dungeons, world bosses, trials, etc ...hence the word "multiplayer."
      ToT isn't a multiplayer anything.

There are players that play solo or do not like to depend on other people. So, for them those leads are out of reach. In other words, there is always something that people cannot obtain for various reasons.

As for your particular situation, may be letting the computer auto play the matches can help? There is an option like that in PvP matches (not sure about games with NPCs). You won't win, but you will get at least white coffers. I saw some posts where people claimed that they got the lead out of a white box.

You WANT the Necrom music box. You do not need it in any fashion. It is a cosmetic, and not integral to the game.

Also ToT is not integral to the game, it has nothing to do with the ESO game.
Could have been some smartphone app for people that likes card games.
Gatekeeping things in it for people that just want to play ESO was such a bad move.

Tales of Tribute is part of ESO, connected to its lore, and is treated like all other content. Mini games are a normal part of RPGs.

I've been playing ESO for 8 years and Elder Scrolls itself since Morrowind, and ToT wasn't anywhere in the lore until last year.
      It seems a little unfair.

It's part of the Elder Scrolls Online lore. I don't recall seeing so many Dragons flying around until Skyrim, but that being new doesn't make those fights in Skyrim unfair.

It's really not unfair that new games in the Elder Scrolls franchise often add new types of gameplay experiences and new lore.

What would be unfair is making Tales the only piece of content in this game that didn't have nice rewards, imo. Unique rewards are an aspect of all types of gameplay.

      ToT isn't a multiplayer anything.

Who really asks for helps in delves and public dungeons? The game advertises that as solo content, and many solo players discuss it as content they want to see.

There are ToT players that are happy to review gameplay footage for you to help you win against the NPCs. Tales is also solo PvP, which is multiplayer content. There are also people who would do teaching matches with you. You can ask them to do an individual match with you in particular to get better.

In addition, some of the most complained about leads are in group content. Because that's also content people frequently feel forced to do because they want leads.

PvP players feel forced to play PvE when it's in any of the PvE content. The same is true vice versa. People have complained about needing to group for endeavors and leads when they just want to play solo casually. Many players aren't in guilds. And people complain now about Tales. So that excludes dungeons, trials, arenas, overland, battle grounds, Cyrodiil, imperial city.... what's left?

If we looked at all the content players have complained about feeling forced doing to get leads and removed it, the only acceptable place would be bought from an NPC for a small amount of coin.
