QoL / Accessibility request to ZOS: **please** fix the "limit followers in towns"

I was trying to interact with the banker in the Vivec City crafting area just now, and it was difficult, because some players had both twilights and clannfear at the banking counter. By this, I mean right *on* the counter itself, so that no matter how close I moved to the counter, there were wings flapping in my face constantly! :(

There's a limit to how much of that I can take, before it actually starts inducing negative physical symptoms. The constant movement of the wings right in front of my face was starting to make me feel nauseous.

This isn't a rare occurrence: it happens a great deal, and in many parts of the game, and it's not limited to bankers, either, general and guild traders have these pets cluttering up the view. It's been worse lately, I think, due to the new chapter.

@ZOS_Kevin , @ZOS_GinaBruno : can you please find out what can be done about this? It really makes the game unpleasant at times. Obviously I'm not planning to stop playing, so this isn't a not-playing-anymore rant, just a request from someone who really loves this game.

My suggestion to improve this would be the following:
- option to hide other players' combat *and* non combat pets within about 15m of any trader (banker, NPC, guild) *and* any wayshrine.

This is a necessary QoL and accessibility change I'm asking for, and a lot of players will thank you for it.

That would be good first step.

But in the end I'd want to be able to hide other player's pets completely outside of combat and preferably an option to hide non-combat pets as well. There's absolutely no reason to require other players to suffer looking at either type constantly.

i think the option should make combat pets invisible outside of combat. there's no need for them out of combat.

I think combat pets should despawn as soon as the player interacts with a banker, merchant, or crafting station.

I don't know why combat pets like Warden's bear and Sorcerer summons need to be out inside of town, they should auto-unsummon as soon as you enter a city. Yet, they can be used as a nice distraction if you get caught doing something illegal as it can help you to get away- that's about their only usefulness inside a city.

Companions on the other hand are 'people' and definitely should remain summoned inside of cities.

But please - auto summon them after, no idea about Warden's bear, but Sorc pets are annoying to summon. I was using unsummoning addon once, I wasted more than 6 seconds to summon them, because I often forgot I had them unsummoned when entered the combat..

I also vote for a complete removal of combat pets outside of combat. This is especially necessary for twilights, which are causing health issues.

On top of that I suggest to reduce the twilight's flapping speed.

Overland difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 9 years. 6 paid expansions. 24 DLCs. 40 game changing updates including One Tamriel, an overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver & Gold as a "you think you do but you don't" - tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game. I'm bored of dungeons, I'm bored of trials; make a personal difficulty slider for overland. It's not that hard.

Yes, the option to limit combat pets in towns doesn't work at all. I see the irritating purple flapping right im my face every day doing my crafting writs. But even fixing that option wouldn't actually solve the problem.

The flapping causes nausea and is extremely annoying, blocking the view and generally destroying the flair (even crowded) towns could have otherwise.

There is absolutely no reason for them to be active out of combat.

After battles, they should disappear and have to be resummoned for the next fight. Reducing casting time would make sure it's no loss, requiring a target to cast it would solve the very serious issue of overwhelming amounts of flapping monstrosities all over the place.

This problem has existed for many years and recently escalated due to sergent brokensorc- now it's a source of discomfort and anger in the entire game and reduces fun and in my case, the will to unnecessarily spend time in social hubs. Which is very sad as they are SOCIAL hubs, meant for socializing.

Hide combat pets in combat also needs to be an option.

Flappy wings, bears, and the storm atronach interfere with player combat abilities if they are between the player and the boss in group dungeons or trials. They make it impossible to target the boss.

Seeing so many pets zooming around town is verrry overstimulating so I'd like an option to turn them off so you can't see them too.
The flapping twilight and the storm atronach suuck if you're photosensitive in any way. Honestly any of the electric/storm abilities are pretty bad for that as well. I can't play a sorc or I'll get a migraine lol

      It's simply carelessness or rudeness.

If I Wayshrine to town I aim to always put the pets away first - If i forget that is carelessness I'll admit to

It only takes a moment and is considerate of other players

On PC there's an addon and it's a simple keybinding, one press and you are good to go.

I have bad memory, worse than golden fish. :( So yeah, keeping track of everything in combat while is not hard, I do expect my summons to be here, if they are not here, it takes additional time for me to go "hey, where are my pets". Happens to everyone, you want QoL for overstimulation, I don't want to lose my QoL for not needing to summon them every time I pass the city.

I still think that if they forced unsummon in cities, they should also force summon if you leave the city.

when i'm on my warden or sorcerer i always dismiss my pets when i'm not in combat, as a courtesy to others, but also i don't like the way they look and i especially don't like their size. they are easy to bring back when i need them, since i am an adult who is capable of thinking more than a few seconds beyond the present, and can recognize situations where they will be needed soon (before the tank pulls, when i port to a cyrodiil keep in case anyone needs help with this). i would pay real life cash money to have them always invisible including in combat, these creatures are one of the early developers' more inexplicable choices.
it is very easy on pc to dismiss your pets if you use a build loadout addon such as alpha gear or dressing room; i always have pets out and no pets keybinds i toggle between to instantly put them away. as always, thoughts and prayers for console players.

Mine are never out except when I'm in the countryside where it's likely I'll have to kill something. Symptomatic of my dislike of "sidekicks".... which yes, for me, includes combat pets. It was that way in WoW and RIFT too.

I don't mind the small non-combat pets, but some of the bigger ones I'd never use - the ponies, the larger cat pets, any of the dogs.

The Companions are hidden from other players in town so why not these annoying pets? The limit followers in town toggle does nothing.

A simple toggle on/off would do the job, then no player needs to unsummon or anything. Just let us toggle them off our view - in and out of combat preferably. I just want them gone from my sight without it affecting those who use them. I play a couple of sorcs and refuse to use the flappy as it gets in MY own way as well! It's so huge and constantly flapping.

When I play as a healer, if too many of my group mates are using the flappies, my screen is just filled edge to edge with wings and I can't even see my targets for healing! I just have to spam out heals in the general direction and hope my buddies get some. I inwardly groan when I see a group mate using the flapper, knowing it will get in my way all through the dungeon or trial.

Toggle = choice without affecting anyone else. I'm a big believer in toggles and choices for things that don't affect any other player.
RIP Atherton, my beautiful little gentle friend. I will miss you forever. Without you I am a hollow shell.

Kind of funny how standard QOL requests are all framed as accessibility requests nowadays. It's almost like ZoS set a precedent on how to trigger a dev response and change.

its bc theres people with disabilities who also play games and want to not feel nauseous bc a sorc with a twilight happens to be standing next to a key location like a bank. no one deserves to feel nauseous or have an interaction blocked bc of the actions or negligence of the other players around them when it comes to pets getting in the way.

just bc you can deal with the issue fine doesnt mean everyone else can.

Agreed. One way if could look: Sorcerer's bound armor skill has had a few changes over the years. The first ones were toggles. One of the later versions produced a purple magic aura around the body of the sorcerer to show it was active.

Active pets could be made to look like that last example when out of combat. On entering combat they could instantly spawn out of portals. Returning when combat ends.
