Compliments on Necrom

I really enjoyed the main quest to Necrom. I really got sucked into the story and as I got to the end of it, I found myself staying up a few hours late just to finish it. I loved the dynamics it added to the lore. I am still finishing up the side quests and other things like that in the zone, but I wanted to say thanks for such an amazing story. I look forward to the chapter next year and hope to see you continue to break the mold.

Love the arcanist so far. I won't be setting foot in Necrom until the mobs recede.

Food bug is annoying as ####, and shrooms I am not a fan of

I am glad they turned down visuals on pts. For me be it's just right as long as not directly staring at green.

The sounds that go with class greatly make me enjoy class. The visuals are far more impressive design wise then necromancer

Overall class is engaging and fun

The zone is not gray this time. Last few years there was lack of color. The green zone isn't ugly green glow from shipwright but nice refined green.

Quest rewards make me interested in exploring

New mount type is just cool

Octopus pet needs looking at as book animation is definitely missing and boring

Nothing to regret getting it as definitely better than previous chapters

    P.S I like books

just finished a quest in Apocrypha in the Obscured Forum and the central chamber was just so beautiful with all the stacks of books twisting. I'm also loving the watchling Scruut and has some brilliant lines that made me laugh

I rushed through the main story just to get the Fate Scryer costume unlocked for use on my new Arcanist and companions. Honestly, I hate the whole "web" type of dungeon, where you have multiple levels and it's SO easy to get lost and not know what direction you're supposed to go- unless it actually says "above" or "below" on the HUD. I much prefer linear dungeons.

I also found the NPC's offering to use their special abilities- frequently never gave me the prompt to activate it. The fight against the main bad at the end took forever, as the NPC kept saying, "use xyz skill" but the prompt wouldn't appear to actually access it. I found this happening even against mini-bosses as well.

Also had an experience that said, "talk to..." the NPC companion, and the map showed a static ICON, but the NPC had no icon above their head and talking to them did nothing. I tried exiting the game, I tried going back out of the dungeon and back in, and what worked, was I just kept going through the dungeon and upon going through the next passage, the quest prompt moved on.

Other than that, I really haven't done much questing with Necrom other than the initial companion quests (on 11 characters).

Probably the best chapter since Summerset. Has many similar issues to Summerset when it comes to plot but unlike Elsweyr, Greymoore, Blackwood and High Isle, I actually enjoyed the plot despite that.

The new class is fun but feels like it'll be... a little samey between magicka and stamina.

I like how a lot of the mobs we fight seem to have more complex tactics this go around.

The main villain of this plot is genuinely interesting unlike every villain since Orsinium. God the Ascendent Lord was such a let down for how much effort went into his cinematics.

I think splitting the chapter into two zones that were fairly equally represented was a BIG help. Neither overstayed their welcome. It felt like getting two slightly-bigger-than-DLC zones back to back with enough seperation between them you could commit to just doing side content for one if you wanted and ignoring the other. That's really cool and I'd like to see future chapters like this.

The ending was pretty big but leaves me concerned. Next time this plot comes up they'll need to either sacrifice writing quality to keep new players up to speed or force them to do Necrom which, sadly, they just won't do.
Desperate for Roleplaying servers to bring open world non-organised RP to Elder Scrolls Online. Please ZOS.

Because not everyone is happy with Necrom. I don't like the new class at all so far, the new zone is small and the animations are way overbearing and distracting. I really wish I would have waited to buy Necrom until it went on sale this fall or had not purchased it at all.

Oh... yeah... that too. Sorry, should probably have put all of that in the 'bug' section. ;)

The problem is I haven't done a lot with Necrom other than rush through the main story to unlock the costume and unlock both companions.

So as for what I enjoyed... definitely loving the new companions, although leveling them is a slow, painful slog. So far loving Arcanist as well and really think the overall look of Apocrypha is awesome.

Interesting how very few compliments the devs are getting after the hard work put into a chapter, despite all bugs (inevitable I should think when working with a deadline!) - and whatever issues (minor as they may be) are there.

But yes, beyond it all, I adore Necrom. And everything about it. So much so that ever since its annoucement ( in winter) this was the only character in my entire history of creating them who got a house of his own, before its very existence ( the actual char that is - which came now, with Necrom, of course).

The Arcanist as a class is also very attractive and enjoyable so far to play with. I am in fact thinkin making him my new main ( though considering the amount of motifs and recipes learned on the actual main - that one char will remain the crafter of them all, housing included). Perhaps it has its flashy moments - but what is a mage without a bit of shock towards the world? And books by means of "weapons" to use in combat? Colour me in love! All "flashy" animations ( not in the least unbearable) can easily pass on.

Story wise - beautiful! Scenery? Absolute work of art! (though that comparison as far as eso graphics go has always been there for me, from the start, base game included, so it can only go better, yes?).

And last but not least - FINALLY some true fantasy! And finally actual immersion into things impossible for real and truly belonging to the fantastic, depicted with all the wit and beauty imagination can cover!

So yes, compliments indeed - and may I frown upon Al-Cybiades name when I meet him. Despite the attractive descriptions of him in the announcements, I found he is not my chosen companion this year, the argonian being much more suitable for my grumpy old mage. But on an admirative note, I do appreciate how every two companions are so utterly different, and so suitable for almost every type of characters out there, that compliments are in order for either, anyway.

And on a final note, as I always like to talk about "the vibe" of a place - it has almost always strike me how the base game, and one or two dlcs afterwards make you feel a certain level of love and respect for the content itself from the devs, differs from the latest dlcs ( a bit after elsweyr with a peak in High Isle) - that love has been more and more shifted towards comercial endeavours ( "the vibe" as I call it whispers until down-right states in your face: "for sales" rather than "for the love of it!"). I believe with this new chapter "the vibe" of love and respect for the content has finally returned to what it was of old - again , towards the content itself, before it even being about us ( the players). And for that, I am not only greateful, but fully admiring it.

Congratulations on opening such a thread by and by. I find ( scrolling through forums) that very little positive input is in there for the devs, as compared to the negativity of it all. We need more of that!

Thank you - and happy gaming everyone!

This definitely has been the best expansion since Elsweyr and Summerset. The story was enjoyable, the lore implications of what's been added are interesting, and the Arcanist has been a joy to play with. Not to mention that they did a great job nailing the vibes of Apocrypha and that they brought back having a roughly 1 million gold house (and a great looking one at that with an Outlaw's Refuge entrance).
Still waiting for answers about class set aura behavior, and also hoping that one day hair dyeing will be an option. We know it's canon thanks to a book in the Manor of Masques! (House of Reveries: The Troupe)

And on a more personal note (as there is in fact so much good about this chapter one can hardly cover it in a single post!) - our very guild has in years now Hermaeus Mora as a metaphor for our endeavours, we have him on our tabard, we have him in our guild house, and we may well sound like a cult by now ... ( ok I didn't see THAT coming!). But yes - you can imagine what such a chapter means for those loving to read and write, even beyond the bounderies of ESO !

Congratulations again ! (and for those willing to complain - choose another thread!. We need more positive people around!)

One more thing I like ( but this is more as far as the community is going) - is the fact that Arcanist as a class name - cannot be chopped in things like "stamcro/magplar, stamblade... " etc. etc. You get the idea. Now all the streamers and youtubers seem to have properly learned how to spell things - and we finally have "stamina arcanist builds" or "magicka arcanist" or "powerful arcanist" titles upcoming. Sure glad of that one! So tired of chopped language all over the place! Well done on that line too!

Eh, I call mine stamarc and magarc - or even starc and marc. Yes I can spell them out, but why?

Having played a bit more with my baby arcs (2 of each) I'm finding them very fun! Much moreso than other classes except warden (and don't know about necro -- never play them in any game). I was a bit concerned that the revolving crux would upset my vertigo, but it's not bothering me - either my own or even if a lot of others arcanists are around. So that's a relief!

I haven't started Necrom yet - just ran around to get the antiquities and wayshrines, probably grab skyshards today. It's doubtful I'll do much questing there until the mobs of players recede. And doing the MSQ is unlikely to happen at all from how friends talk about the combat with bosses. My ping just makes difficult bosses impossible.

But that's okay - it's a really intriguing set of zones, and there's still the ship house to look forward to (even though that's not in Necrom of course, and even though it will be gobs of crowns instead of gold....)

The "why" is not about "why can't you call them so" - sure you can call yours as you please - as everyone else does. Here I was forced by the community to chop actual terms ( such as "necromancer" for example or "sorcerer") into "stamsorc" and the like. I understand the appeal in the speed of the moment and even the necessity for time-sparing reasons. The real why comes though when language is involved. Why is there such an incessant need of ruining perfectly valid terms, even when the above mentioned reasons are not involved? (Although this already starts another topic so please ignore further comments on this line - what I stated was just a personal opinion none in any way should cling on to !)

Please continue to bring positive inputs about things - as they are direly needed. And to move on further to your comment - on a more general note, I did not find the zone so much populated by players to the degree of it causing performance issues. If anything, as compared to other launches, I found it fairly calm and peaceful. Cheers and apologise if my above comment was too personal. It is (just) an opinion.

There were so many people around where I was going that I almost couldn't see the ground for the mounts and riders. It might have to do with time - for instance it was MUCH worse on PC EU (where I play on peak) than PC NA (where I play off peak) though even on NA one of the antiquities dig sites was so covered with players I really couldn't actually see it.

And I narrowly avoided having a Seeker pull me into combat when players dragged it toward a wayshrine - I was able to click and go, so didn't die (I mean, I can die quite nicely on my own, folks - don't need the help thanks!)

So I'll just wait (it's not unusual for me to wait to do a zone "properly" for up to 3-4 months after release) - at this point in my life, I have plenty of time to play so it's all good!

My post is probably a bit spoilery.

My partner and I have just started playing through the zone quests. Ald Isra objective Tracing Shadows was excellent. Very well-written, very hard hitting. I'm a little bit traumatised, I think it will sit with me for a while to come. I particularly appreciated Zemzo's dawning realisation of the reality of his place in the Telvanni worldview, even if its couched in psychic dissonance. Maybe I wish that I could have a bit more agency- not just watch that horrific business unfold and then just be passive audience to the shockingly gratuitous gloating that concludes the story, but that's not a blemish on the great storytelling.

As an aside, and it probably wasn't deliberate, but while I was indifferent to fan-favourite Naryu before, I absolutely loathe her now. Moving from callously fulfilling her contract to "I need to unpack my feelings about Vaya" in the very next breath was grating. The first is a fascinating aspect of how Dunmer society operates, and being grossed-out by it, while simultaneously understanding it within the compellingly alien framework of Morrowind society is (ahem) well executed. But the juxtaposition of that on sympathetic appeal around personal tragedy while demonstrating absolute callousness regarding another is sociopathic and repellent.

Cammonarhun was cool. I enjoyed the lorebook that explored one random Tong's perspective. It felt organic and believable. That sort of thing makes the world feel much more real, to me, so big thanks to the writers. I guess its a shame, in a way, that you read that sort of thing, close the book and then get back to the business of ploughing through them all but I can't see how else it could be handled, so that's just reflection, not criticism. I will say that Ashur's a bit annoying though.

Another thing I've appreciated so far is that its packed with lore. It felt to me like whoever designed this has a very good grasp on Telvanni House infrastructure and politics; the tension between Dres and Telvanni is pretty cool, too.

The zone itself is beautiful. The Seekers and Lurkers look amazing. I very much appreciate that the reuse of assets made a lot of sense given the part of the world we are exploring, but that the arrangement has been done such that it feels like a distinct landscape. I love the little Tel map icons and think it would be cool to see them used in Vvardenfell, too. A small criticism is that it would be cool to see some of the iconic flora from TES3. Trama Roots might be restricted to the Ashlands, but where are the Corkbulbs and Comberry bushes of the more fertile parts? I also notice that while most of the biomes (Ascadian Isles, Ashlands, Bitter Coast) are recognisable and done well in ESO's Vvardenfell , West Gash and the Grazelands don't feel anything like their TES3 counterparts. Probably because of the lack of rock types (and the colour they imparted to the different biomes in TES3), makes the biomes start to feel indistinguishable from one another. I hope in the future we can see some of the elements of these landscapes in the places we will explore.

I was disappointed to not see House Indoril dealt with at all in the part of the world the lore associates them with. I think its correct- and more realistic- to point out that borders are mutable and political, but if the innate story implicit in that rationale isn't recognised, it would lack substance, and therefore what's being sold as narrative device ("in a believable world, things change") feels more like a hand waive. At the same time, people are perplexed by the use of the name Telvanni Peninsula not only for a part of the world not traditionally referred to under that name (geographically), but also not including the most immediately recognisable part that would. To understand the dissatisfaction, imagine a Whiterun Hold zone that didn't include Whiterun itself, but was just Riverwood and the pine forests of Falkreath Hold. Yes, technically things change, and "ZOS could do whatever they want, 1000 years" but I think its intuitive to say that many people would be unhappy about that. Personally I'd be Ok with it, but you'd want some pretty compelling storytelling to justify it.

So while I think that the developers absolutely need space to create (and frankly, setting ESO in the second era should give them the space to do so), the nuance of people and place really defines Tamriel; the world loses meaning if that's unnecessarily ignored. That's just my reflection on the issue, trying to take on board what passionate lorebeards are feeling, and also how ZOS has responded. I hope its not taken as hate!

All-in-all, really enjoying Necrom so far, and very much looking forward to exploring the rest of the story and world.

One of the best chapters they've ever released, in my opinion. Elsweyr is always at my very top since I'm a Khajiit fan, but the way the side quests and story worked in Necrom was superb, and I love that they made Apocrypha the focus of the chapter, making it the largest area to play around in.

Arcanist has really refreshed the combat in the game for me, my Khajiit arcanist is now levelled up and I'm just slowly getting skyshards and dailies unlocked on her.

    My initial impressions:

I'm enjoying the 2 zones much more then I thought I would. I appreciate that Apocrypha isn't depressing and mono-chromatic like Deadlands or Coldharbor. The music in Telvanni Pennisula is fantastic: Aprocrypha's music gets annoying & boring.

Its fantastic that there is actually some unique monsters and not just re-treads; the mind terror is one of the best in its creepiness! Love the new class, its fun, and the concept that ideas and books can be potent weapons is exciting. There are actually containers to loot again and more imaginative art design is on display once again since the Summerset/Elsweyr chapters. Rewards seem to drop better, and for that I am grateful, and its fantastic that there is actually a new house THAT CAN BE BOUGHT WITH GOLD!

I haven't done the main quest line yet, and it will probably be quite awhile until I do. I've done some side quests and they shine- loved the writing, acting, and pathos! One side quest had me laughing out-loud and that is very rare for me.

The one companion that I opened (Azandar) has been so far not annoying and has a perk that I love. I would have opened Sharp-As-Night, but I do want to know first (from the powers-that-be) on how his perk affects getting Perfect Roe).

The biggest fail that I have seen is the Bastion Nymics...hopefully that will eventually get addressed and they will never do such a thing in a World Event again. As to the Herald Seekers floating around and surprising people with their attacks...I've grown to love that. The zone has a bit of 'Watch out!' in it when you are exploring around and I wish there was even a little bit more of that.

Somewhere Kevin addressed that (and I can't find it right now unfortunately). IIRC he posted that Sharp's passive does not affect Perfect Roe drop rate. Also that the drop rate is not affected by whether you use the new bulk fillet option or fillet one at a time.

I daresay Sharp-As-Night is a delightful companion. I do not usually pay attention to those or their traits, but it made me smile two days in line while upon just logging on the relationship status got a little bit increased (the random thing, which for Bastien is reading books for example? ) And I do mean just log in, while having him up since the previous day, not everytime I call him . And it just made me think: "Oh wow, look at him, he is actually happy to see me!". Now I don't know if his status growth was simply for loging in or something else, but it happend. I also like how he is happy with every farmed container (well not every - but for the most part) - and other such small things. And it also made me laugh when upon trying to give him an outfit he... was not happy. Very interesting companion Sharp-As-Night, to be sure. Didn't take him for a fishing spree yet, but he sure enjoys swimming! Oh, and I adore his voice!

It's often all too easy to overlook the extensive effort and devotion poured into the creation of something as rich and immersive as the Necrom chapter. My gratitude and praise for the developers know no bounds!

From the moment the chapter was announced, I was filled with an insatiable sense of anticipation, and the final product surpassed my expectations. The new Arcanist class has been an absolute delight to play. It's not only entertaining but also beautifully designed, with an essence that echoes true magic. The intriguing concept of using books as weapons is nothing short of genius and it fits so perfectly into the grand lore of Elder Scrolls.

Narrative and plot-wise, the game developers have spun a web of enchanting tales that made me fall in love with the characters and the world. The beautiful landscapes ( filled with magic which is always a +++) and meticulously crafted environment are truly awe-inspiring, a testament to the brilliance of the creative team.

But what's most admirable about Necrom is how it dives deep into the realms of pure fantasy. It creates a world where reality is stretched and reimagined, providing an immersive experience that is truly magical. It's this boldness to go beyond the ordinary that truly sets Elder Scrolls Online: Necrom apart.

One thing that struck me about Necrom, was the underlying vibe of passion and reverence for the content that the developers have expressed. The affectionate details in this chapter hint at a renewed focus on love for the craft rather than commercial gain. This is a refreshing change from recent DLCs and I couldn't be more appreciative.

To conclude, I think it's high time we showered more praise on the developers who've worked tirelessly to create such a masterpiece. The depth, creativity, and sheer joy found in Necrom and Apocrypha is a testament to their hard work and dedication. Congratulations and many thanks to the entire team and here's to many more amazing chapters in the future!!

Man, the writing is just so good. I'm loving this chapter so far. Sailenmora quest was great. Anchre Eggmine, excellent. The characters and factions interesting and believable. And after just very recently completing a TES3 MW playthrough, I feel like these stories belong.

Some of us complained a few years ago that it felt like they'd nerfed the number of containers we could search. Well, they've clearly addressed that very strongly. Its such a simple pleasure and gives us and validates exploration. I really really appreciate it.

I also feel like with this chapter's world-building they've put more effort into engineering little nooks and crannies, little ledges that are totally possible to get up on, look around. That sort of thing works as gameplay because I have a lot of fun, and spend time getting to every little spot, looking around, wondering if I can get to this place or that, and moreso in this zone, the answer is "yes." Love it! One idea I might suggest is that sometimes there could be low-key sorts of validating rewards- for example chests- that aren't economy-breaking or MUST HAVE but make you feel good for making the effort. Though some of the views you get are reward enough.

One thing I would wish for TP is that the zone had a little more space to breathe- all of the locations are fascinating in their own right (Ven Tel Hlurag is fascinating, for instance: I'd love to know more about its history!), but it can be hard to "read" the landscape. I don't know if this is super valid, or even if it would have been possible to spread it out a bit more, so take this as just one person's perspective.

Still got a long way to go, haven't even really covered all of Telvanni Peninsula yet, let alone got to Apocrypha, or the deeper reaches of the Main Quest. Loving it so much so far though. This alone, for me, is the best release in years.
