Hello,

a thread here was closed, referring to the "Overland Content Feedback Thread".
So I opened that thread, and got completely lost.

170 pages, completely unsorted.
All kinds of different topics combined there, without a matching order.

It is like:
1. topic: worldbosses not scaling
2. topic: something about new world players
3. reply to 1.
4. topic: quest mobs too easy
5. reply to 3
6. reply to 2.
7. reply to 3
8. topic: quest-bosses should get stronger below 33% health
9. reply to 1
10. reply to 6

And this is just like one the the 170 pages.
How can you even follow such a chaos?

I mean, why don't you simply use a subforum for overland, so that you can at least use the topic headlines to find something interesting?

    Well, you're completely right!

    Awesome post btw

Overland difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 9 years. 6 paid expansions. 24 DLCs. 40 game changing updates including One Tamriel, an overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver & Gold as a "you think you do but you don't" - tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game. I'm bored of dungeons, I'm bored of trials; make a personal difficulty slider for overland. It's not that hard.

It's mostly a thread for devs to collect, and most importantly count, engagement related to overland content suggestions and grievances.

There's no major through-line, it goes through periods of heavy and light engagement as people enter and leave the forums. A lot of the same ideas, back-and-forth, and pushback have been repeated ad nauseam.

So, if you've got a suggestion or simply want to add your +1 to the box lobbying devs to address the issue, definitely do so. Every little bit helps.

It's just a complicated issue to approach; there's a vociferous margin of players that won't accept certain approaches or solutions (mainly separate veteran overland instances), and some even lobby against addressing overland difficulty at all. The devs have more or less said that the new bastian nymic overworld events and the upcoming endless dungeon are measures to address the issue, if I recall correctly.

Personally a bit disappointing, but I'm not expecting an overhaul of the game foundation any time soon anyway; at least not until they wrap up the codebase rework.

My ideal solution would involve a way to ramp up difficulty in steps, allowing for new or casual players to walk up their skill to group content levels without facing a huge difficulty cliff. A souls-like compromise where monsters are client-side, we're still zoned in with other players, and only see them outside of combat. That way we would be able to adjust our difficulty as much as we want without affecting others. Not to mention not having to wait for bosses to respawn in public areas.

Just one idea among many. Like I said, it went in the box and quickly got swept up in the back and forth. We'll just have to wait and see what happens with overland content.
Thank you for coming to my T E D talk

@Credible_Joe yeah I get your point, but each page has 30 messages, so the thread has 5100 messages meanwhile.

I would like to contribute concerning scaling of worldbosses, but usually I like to check if this topic was already discussed or not.
How shall I find something relevant in 5100 unsorted messages? This violates the whole concept of a threadbased forum.
For now I prefer not to participate, because if I add something now, I already know I will waste too much time in the next days searching for relevant follow up messages (I will get a notification only to my message, but not to a message that replies to another one related to it, so had to search manually).
The problem is, that in such a "discussion" only the die-hards" survive, that tend to love endless back and forth disputes as we already observe it in shorter threads. I'll pass...
