How important are achievements for you personal enjoyment of your game?

Lurking around at this forums I witness a lot of ranting about things, which should be changed because a specific activity someone is doing is not enjoyable to this person. Although I simply can't understand why exactly someone is participating in content he doesn't enjoy, I see the argument of achievements which are "gated" behind specific requirements quite often.

So I wanna do this poll as invitation for everyone who wants to participate to think about this question and maybe learn about other opinions.

The poll is also anonymous, so everbody can answer in all honesty. Feel free to share you thoughts in comments tho.

Overland difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 9 years. 6 paid expansions. 24 DLCs. 40 game changing updates including One Tamriel, an overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver & Gold as a "you think you do but you don't" - tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game. I'm bored of dungeons, I'm bored of trials; make a personal difficulty slider for overland. It's not that hard.

I like to do as many achievements as possible, but I don't mind if I will ever be able to get them all.

Achievements are one of the most important parts of this game to me. I kills my enjoyment, if I'm unable to get them.

I simply have not the slightest interest in achieving anything in a video game. I'm here for the fun.

Yeah, I like to do them, especially the harder ones (worked on my first flawless vma for months back in the days), but if I'm not interested in any content, I won't do it just for completion.

And I refuse to get angry about others simply because they have something I don't.

Never understood following an arbitrary to do list. I do content I like and if a message flies on my screen that I achieved something I typically shrug.

No interest whatever in achievements. Not something I've ever cared about. I only do what I find fun.

I only care about things like dyes, collectibles and achievement furnishings. There are some achievements I will never get - for example, becoming an Emperor - but I think that's fine.
Life is much easier when you don't care about 100% completions of games... I would rather play to have fun instead of restarting the dungeon 10 times because someone in my group accidentally touched lava with their toe or something.

The only use I have for achievements is as progress trackers. They are a record of what I have or have not done. AwA has taken half the benefit away, as so many only track the account now.

These would be my exception, and the reward has to be something I actually really want to use rather than collect for collections sake. That said if the requirements are too tedious I just go without.

I am an achievement hunter in this exact title as was playing for quite a while to be excited about new stuff or "enjoy the journey" that was travelled too many times already, giving me reasons to participate in content I wasn't been to recently or had no excuse to participate in shifting other things aside. It's a nice way of tracking overall progress which I enjoy.

After introduction of tot and companions though I'm not stressed a single bit about not being able (or willing more so) to 100% the game, as find no enjoyment in both and absolutely fine with them being a clear canvas for possible future when I'm fine with those, if ever.

I like the combat in this game, sometimes it takes a few go's to get the mech's down but i enjoy the process. Failure is fine its a neccesary part of the process, if im not learning anything it can lead to tedium. If i get a nice dye or a skin thats fine but even if i like a skin or something at the end of a type of content i dont enjoy i just wont bother its simply not worth it and i move on easy.

My interest in any given achievement is directly proportional to my interest in the activity itself. If its something that I find intersting, or challenging, sure. If it isnt, Ill pass.

I am working through all achievements, but I also know there are quite a few that I will likely never get due to not wanting to dedicate the time to the activity to get them.

Like Emperor. I have zero desire to no life the game for 72 hours straight to maybe have enough AP to maybe be in a position to get emp.

Or trial trifectas. No desire to schedule my entire real life around a prog group availability.

That being said, I am fine with not getting those while working through the achievements I want to put in time to earn.

I don't care about achievements. I only care about getting cosmetics (dyes titles furnishings etc) so if they're tied to an achievement, I will care to get it.

Cannot vote in poll due to no answer matching, but I don't care about game system level achievements. Anything that another player can see that I have achieved in some game, from outside of the game... do not care.

In game, any achievement that could be considered a quest or mulestone that is particularly celebrated, including the reward, I care about. In an RPG, these will be per character or per play-thru. Does not matter if it is single or multiplayer. This is due to the RPG nature, which supercedes any multiplayer or MMO considerations.

If the achievement requires a group, then I don't care about it by default.
Otherwise, it will depend on whether I find the associated activity enjoyable or not.

Obviously there are some actual achievements that are hard to do, full respect to those that worked for them. But I also think the feeling of achievement is a completely separate thing, and happens when I do something I couldn't do before.

My spouse and I have a collection of screenshots from first kills of raid bosses in wow. They aren't points, or a title, they're memories!

I like earning achievements but if it's part of an activity that I don't like I don't care if I earn them. For me raiding and dungeons are my main activities so I care about pushing myself to improve to earn HM, challenger, and trifecta achievements. I only dabble in PVP so I'll likely never get emperor and I don't play virtual card games so I won't ever get any of those achievements and I'm good with that reality.

Since I don't group outside of PvP and don't do trials, battlegrounds, dungeons I accept I will never have all of them.

And dueling. Not that ever. My ego too fragile.

Love this! Sometimes Achievements can be a nice memorandum of these types of memories, which I support. But I also come from the days of Assassin's Creed-esque "go find 1000 feathers around the map that has no other real points of interest" that just turned me off to the concept from the beginning.

No interest whatsoever in achievements. I'm not even in a guild. I'm as casual as casual can get. Play an hour here, an hour there, screw around in Cyrodiil or IC for a bit. That's about it. Don't even run dungeons really.

I like achievements on Xbox and Trophies on PlayStation. In-game only stuff I only bother with for the in-game reward.

Account wide achievements helped the former and affected stuff it shouldn't have in the base game (Kari's hitlist no longer giving Thieves Guild exp which infuriated me to no end, why is this character specific if there's no reward after the first time?!)

I only use them to keep track of things I want to do or collect. I don't care about getting them all, and I certainly don't care that there is some sort of scoring system attached to them.

I'm willing to do a little work for achievements (like kill 75 somethings when I notice that I'm sitting at 73), but not willing to grind (like get rare drop from these 6 monsters-might give it a try if it was 1, but not 6).

No interest in achievements whatever (they didn't exist when I started gaming). But there are some rewards that exist that require achievement X to obtain. If, say, there is a furnishing I really want that has no alternative, then I will try to get the achievement and get super annoyed if (hello Dwarfglass Window) it is locked behind an achievement for group content because I don't do group stuff.

The achievements that are the most important to me are the ones that fill in the map completion. I like to complete all the Delves and Dolmens and World Bosses on each character so having these fill in ruins this for me. Luckily there is an add-on that keeps these per individual character.

I play ESO for fun now, but I never even pretended to myself that I would ever become emperor.

However, I now have Game Pass and I have to do an achievement on a game each evening to get reward points. I mostly play Gears of War 4 once a day for the quick achievement.

I'd love it if ESO was on PC Game Pass as well as Xbox Game Pass.
