There's still space on the map but it decreases with each passing year. IMO at some point ZOS has to experiment with soft resets.

By that I mean they could have for instance an Auridon chapter x00 years back. Back as imo it's easier lore wise than forward. This device essentially reopens the whole of Tamriel. All just an opinion though.

What if I go north? Disappear.
    Would you come after me?

To a place with better writing.

Other than that, somewhere bosmer. Which must be either Falinesti or they make something new up like High Isle.

If the history books are any indication, the Three Banners war will be "resolved" by Tiber Septim in 2E854, a little short of 300 years from the events of ESO. History does not record that any significant emperor held the title prior to that. Not that history would necessarily record that, given the tendency of emperors to rewrite history prior to their taking on the role.

I'd like to see the faction leaders attempt to end the Three Banners War but, find significant portions of their armies prefer to keep fighting and pillaging which will allow the PvP section to continue while also letting other sections of the game move forward.

I'd also like to see the player have the option to choose between a variety of factions that are attempting to put parts of the Empire back together along with those that are trying to profit off of the fall.

Overall, I'd like for the content to be more mundane.

The below speculation of what will actually happen and will include spoilers from the main story that is on the PTS, so, don't click to open the spoiler tag if you don't want things potentially to be spoiled from it.

The new Chapter at the end introduces a powerful entity that could make a significant impact if they return. I suspect the next chapter will start off unrelated to them but, will then end with them attempting to return. Then, I suspect the chapter after that will involve dealing with the aftermath of their attempt to return and how other parties attempted to deal with it.

I'm not really picky with what exactly happens, but I'd just like for the story to continue *the world*. Not something self contained, but to progress everything as a whole. Everything to me feels like a One and Done sort of deal, you do a thing, you get your thanks but the world stays the same. One thing I'd like to specially see happen is something with the Three Banner War. While I am not massively on top of my Lore, I know it does go on for some time but I have heard once before that at some point, groups of the armies eventually break off and become warlords themselves and fight for their own control, basically as Chessa has said above me. I've forgotten what this time was called though, but it would allow the world to continue at least and still have some form of PvP that makes sense, if not just keeping it the exact same under the guise that the generals are still fighting for the alliances under their own rules. Alternatively the mode can just stay regardless of what happens, such as with the IC. If I remember right it's whole questline and dungeons is about ending the invasion, and yet here we are still fighting over it even if we finished it. I dread to think if we'll ever catch even a single word about the events of High Isle, let alone actually see anything come of it.

ZoS seems to already have a plan for the story arc for the next two years since they've already announced a story spanning more than one year with Necrom.

Personally I always advocate for going to places rarely seen or never explored previously in Elder Scrolls lore. There is the matter of Lyranth
and how mysteriously the Deadlands quest line ended around her departure,
but I don't think that is what they plan to address next. One complaint fans have with the ESO is that there is no world building or world progression, which I also think is about time to do something about. The 'play-in-any-order' concept is neat in theory but results in a flat story that doesn't go anywhere and does not allow characters to grow and evolve. I think current writers might benefit more from revisiting base game quest lines and Wrothgar quest lines to analyzing how and why those stories were so good and immersive.

I would love it if we were morally challenged by some daedra on account of all the merciless killing we do. If there were some counter for distinct mobs we've cut down, and Boethia or someone squared up and hit us with the cumulative genocide we've commit, citing a number that's orders of magnitude higher than any other mortal has achieved since Pelinal Whitestrake...

It'd be funny. And interesting. Some sort of quest to redeem the mortal souls we've reaped that might not have strictly deserved it.

Like, imagine being some new recruit to a bandit camp, young, a product of bad choices and bad parenting but with definite potential to turn your life around.

And then the Vestige shows up.

I really like Boethia for this direction; at some point she notices and favors you, and starts claiming the souls of the people you cut down.

You either have to own or justify your warpath. Different writing and dialogue for different character backgrounds. Look at your PvP rank, your PvE achievements, your preferred guild by repeatable quests completed & rank (Fighters, mages, DB, thieves, etc). Bonus points if you've done Dragonstar Arena. Fight to free the souls Boethia's stolen in your name.

I know the insane amount of fighting we do is a product of the gameplay loop and probably doesn't realistically represent the Vestige's journey. But something just a tiny bit meta like this just feels like Elder Scrolls content to me.

So it would seem. Hermaeus Mora and the Telvanni. I am a little bit at a loss as to how this could lead to more, but I guess I will find out when I do the Necrom story. I suppose I will be happy if they can manage to dream up something new.

I'd just like a minor change to the three banners war. Fighting each other so you can claim a throne currently overrun with daedra is silly. I'd like to see the purpose of the war become capturing territory in case the need to evacuate the citizens of the other zones after a daedric invasion. Fighting for a throne (while the world gets sucked into oblivion) is dumb. Fighting to protect people is responsible.

No more PVP zones, that would COMPLETELY ruin the game.

Just how cyrodiil and IC being pvp ruins it alot.

Every time a PvE purist suggests that removing PvP would improve the game, somewhere, a newbie lands their first gank.

Legacy of the Bretons ended with a cliffhanger, as the three monarchs walked into a room to discuss peace (or kill one another). I want this to be addressed somehow. It'd be cool if past deeds could result in more options in upcoming content. For example, if you saved Summerset, you get the option of recruiting Raz to help deal with whatever's going on at the moment. It's nothing that changes the story too much, but it just adds some flavor and the feeling of continuity. Another example: if you helped Rigurt in the past, you can call in a favor and he does something that saves you some legwork in a quest.

If the game does keep going for many years, one way to effect a reset is to introduce an update to the base game (in the form, probably, of a zone) that introduces some sort of world-changing event, and you cannot play future chapters that depend on that world changing event until you've completed that base game zone.

It would need to be a base game zone that is not paid DLC because otherwise you'd end up locking every future chapter behind an extra paid DLC. Or it would need to be included with every future paid DLC at no cost.

Personally I'm a little concerned that as the game runs out of map we're going to end up with increasingly unappealing content. I appreciate, for example, that the wood elves have their fans. But I'm not one of them, not least because I find the voice work difficult to tolerate, but also because I personally find the lore very, very contrived to the point of being painful (switching plants for meat, story spinning, etc -- none of this feels natural to me, it feels like concepts that you come up with when you've run out of ideas). I couldn't bring myself to finish their zones in the base game and about the only story I personally found interesting was Falinesti, which like the Dwemer I assume they will never be able to show.

I'm also concerned that we will be treated to endless planes of Oblivion. They have their place, but the attraction of Elder Scrolls to me at least is that the daedric princes take a background role in a game that otherwise takes place in a mostly relatable world. I don't like living in an aggressive colour filter where everything floats in the sky all the time. It's too much fantasy grounded by not enough reality, and I need that balance to find content engaging.
