Wrath of the Imperium 3 piece bonus wasn't actually fixed in v7.3.5

Wrath of the Imperium was supposedly fixed in patch v7.3.5:

'Wrath of the Imperium: Fixed an issue where this set was not applying its bonus to many attacks it should have'.

After testing the set again recently, I can confirm that while it now DOES apply its bonus to most (if not all) single target ranged direct damage abilities (hooray!), it still is not applying its bonus to all AoE ranged direct damage abilities.

The example I'll give is Acid Spray. This skill deals direct damage out to 20 range but is not gaining ANY additional damage from the Wrath of the Imperium 3 piece bonus.

Same is true for Arcanist AOE abilities, e.g. Ceph's Flail and Fatecarver.

Sucks because I'd like to have this set as an option.

EDIT: apparently these ranged abilities are considered melee:

And Fatecarver is classified as DOT not Direct.

This is unintuitive given that both of these abilities have range.
