Cool idea! Sometimes I can just spend minutes at the login screen looking through my chars for fun. Seeing what pets each have, their armour styles and mounts. So this would add even more to that. Say I want to see a companion that I have not used in game for a while and want to remember what they look like, what I have on them. Would be able to do that without having to log in on said char.
