A quick question regarding multi-clienting.

Is multi-clienting allowed in ESO? I'm a fan of other games that allow you to control a group of people, and plan on doing so with two clients on split on either side of my monitor simultaneously, if allowed. Also, if it is allowed, can anyone else tell me their experience in handling two or more accounts when tackling group content, or even pvp? My method for controlling either one would be alt-tabbing separately after doing the healing or tanking abilities that last about 15-20 seconds. Thank you.

As I understand it, you can multi-client if you're alt-tabbing, but not if you're using a software app to handle multi-clients. I occasionally load two clients (I have three accounts) so I can pass stuff around, but my ping isn't conducive to actually do much on two or more screens.

As long as you are manually controlling each,it's ok,.Just using software to bot/follow is not allowed, and can get you banned. It is why most games that allow it,economies die, cause bad users farm and kill markets,so games are filled with em.Also sending large amounts of gold, crowns, and stuff in short periods may flag you as gold seller or something and get you banned,so be wary.

First sentence in the second paragraph is the really important one:
Can I multibox in The Elder Scrolls Online?
    Updated 10/05/2022 01:40 PM

Multiboxing is NOT allowed in The Elder Scrolls Online in any of its forms, whether software- or hardware-based. Any accounts found to be multiboxing will be considered in violation of our Terms of Service and actioned swiftly and decisively, up to the permanent deactivation of the account along with any other associated accounts. To be clear, players are welcome to have multiple accounts. However, using hardware or software to play them all at the same time is not allowed on any ESO service.

Multiboxing is the practice of playing multiple accounts simultaneously, including, but not limited to using either hardware or software to facilitate the coordination between the accounts. This violates the intended nature of the gameplay mechanics we've created for ESO.

I ran into a multi-boxer yesterday, it was hard to tell at first but his buddies moved in a weird manner. One main guy doing most of the work and two others would move several seconds later. Saw them doing dolmens and later a public dungeon.

What you just described is not multiboxing since the characters acted after each other and not at the same time.

Go look at the mudcrab farming bots if you want to see multiboxing

It is multiboxing, per ZOS definition [ Multiboxing is the practice of playing multiple accounts simultaneously ], which is all that really matters here.

(And to be clear... they have clarified the above to mean actual playing, which allows for the "alt-tabbing" mentioned above, when that is the only means to control the account, as you cannot play the other account(s) in the background. )

They really should update that help page to define “playing,” since (as you pointed out) the CMs had to clarify here on the forums that they meant “actively controlling,” not just “being logged into game.” The examples given on the forums here were necessary to explain the intent and meaning of the rule given on the help page, so they belong on that help page as well, imo.

Edit: I should really read messages in full first before replying...
It is not. I know someone who has asked about this because for roleplay purposes they play two characters at the same time. So unless this changed in the years since, the "simultaneously" part is interpreted as taking actions on both accounts at the same time, not as take action on one account, ALT Tab and take action on the other account.

There was a guy years ago who soloed dungeons like this. He made some videos and posted them here. I forgot who it was though.

I run into these guys during RNDs frequently and it's frustrating since it's usually a fake tank and high level DPS. It's frustrating but I just leave if the vote kick fails...which is always will if one is multi-boxing.

What I do, and as far as I am aware this is OK, is I run 2 to 3 eso clients on the same computer, or separate computers.

On the same computer I run on windowed mode. I then switch between the clients and control each character individually and manually.

Often the reason for this is I am waiting on a world boss or vent or other timed activity to spawn on one instance and doing crafting writs on another account. Or working on a house, or preforming guild duties.

From my understanding this is OK so long as everything is manual, and there isn't any automation to the process.
