Dyes

Right now dyes only work on outfits (costumes) and can only be used once. This game needs a splash of more vibrant colors and creativity.

So why not make dyes like how they work in GW2.

The ability to dye each part of the costume separately. Have armor pieces be dyeable too. Also make dyes account bound.

Any other suggestions of how dyes should work in this game?

What colors should be added?

How should we get dyes besides the crown store?

Dyes do work like that if you have eso+. Go to the outfit station and select the second button in the upper right corner.

Edit: also without eso+ you can dye your actual armor I believe, also in the outfit station.

Thanks for your information 😀. Didn't know. Also I was posting about how to improve on the current dye system.

The only difference ESO+ makes is the ability to dye your costumes without using dye stamps from the crown store. Everyone can dye outfits and their actual armour.

The problem is you're using dye stamps from the crown store which are very restrctive, to the point of being nearly useless. The main way to get dyes in this game is by completing achievements to unlock them, and then they work exactly as you're suggesting.

Zenimax has two systems for dying outfits and armor. The one that’s in-game is better than the crown store subdue use dies and is superior to GW2 by leaps and bounds.

We know exactly what we need to do to unlock a dye and can use them over and over. No need to change.

I would like dyes that we purchase to be added permanently to our collections for repeated use like armor and weapon styles are. I thought it worked like this when selling dyes first happened and I was extremely disappointed that they were single use and didn't touch them again.

I thought the dye stamps would allow people without ESO+ to dye costumes the way subscribers can, by choosing dyes. Kind of like how the outfit change tokens or appearence change tokens work - I thought you'd buy a dye stamp, choose the dyes and then consume the stamp to save your choices. I was planning to buy several as soon as they came out to dye a bunch of my costumes.

When I found out they're restricted to pre-chosen colours I was confused because for me that makes them completely useless, I had a hard time understanding why anyone would buy them.

For me it sort-of worked out ok though, I spent the money I'd planned to spend on dye stamps buying a month of ESO+ (cancelled it immediately because I didn't want it to renew) and dyed my costumes that way instead.

And again earning these dyes is attached to earning some dumb achievement to get them. I HATE THE DYE SYSTEM IN THIS GAME.

DAoC had the best dyes, it was a craft and you learnt to make them.

I like that we earn the dyes as we play the game. They are an added little bonus for the things we would do anyway and a bit of incentive to maybe try something we might otherwise stay away from.

I agree. There are dyes I will never have - but really, I can manage a decent look on almost any character, no matter the outfit or costume.

[Caveat: I've played 6 years.... and that does make a difference in what dyes you may run across - not to mention the achievements you might have to deal with. I'm not into messing with achievements for dyes myself. But that's just me.]
