How to add new weapons types to the game.

Conjuration.

All conjuration weapons will look the same and glow. The only thing we should be able to do is change the glow color of the conjuration weapon. This way nobody has to worry about styles. There is only one uniform style for the conjuration weapon.

Maybe we start with the usual known weapons for the first release. Change the flavor of the skills of the known weapons.

Then just like mythics, other sets, etc. New conjuration weapon arts can be added in newer chapters.

So now that we have that solution out of the way, tell us why we can't have a new weapon type in the game.

... It would be a staff, staff art already exists in game.

There's not enough abilities to go around without making the classes that already have conjuration built in trivial.

    I don't want a weapon that glows. I prefer a clean not-in-your-face look.

I'd love to have a book of spells on my side that I could use to conjure my skills. This makes more sense than running around with a long staff stuck to my back.

Isn't this already a weapon style? https://eso.mmo-fashion.com/gloambound/ They look really cool on some of my magicka oriented characters.

Well you might be right, I think in TES IV when I used conjuration it created oblivion type weapons. In Skyrim there were purple see through glowy ones.

Ok now let's place that with mythics....and then realize these reasons just won't do. People will complain always. Whether it's to help people or hurt them, someone will complain.

Conjuration can be many things, I've summoned swords, axes, etc in TES without a staff on me. You don't need a staff to conjure up a weapon...only magic.... Maybe I misunderstood this reply.

an invisible offhand for 1-2handed, easy, and theres 10 enemy skills we dont have that we could get easily without much effort on their part.

a new guild/world skill line with an attack toggled skill(like mend wounds), or changing imbue weapon's morphs into a ranged(rift creation barehands), and melee(floating swords)

Sry for my lack of understandig, but I don't get what you're suggesting exactly.

Is this about cosmetic changes only or are we talking about a new skill line here?

The first I could imagine to happen, although it surely wouldn't be an easy (or cheap) change.

A whole new weapons line however would mean a rework of broad parts of the game (think of all the sets which would need addition) and I simply can't imagine zos is managing to balance this.

Overland difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 9 years. 6 paid expansions. 24 DLCs. 40 game changing updates including One Tamriel, an overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver & Gold as a "you think you do but you don't" - tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game. I'm bored of dungeons, I'm bored of trials; make a personal difficulty slider for overland. It's not that hard.

I doubt they will add one because they keep saying how hard it is to make more skills fit into the game. However, if they add a new weapon it will either be a staff or a generic tome/orb for spellsword skills so that they don’t have to make 100 motifs weapons. They might also add a barehanded skill line if they find a way to balance not having a weapon on a character.

I think a more realistic step would be to differentiate stamina weapons more like they do with the destruction staves. Add more bleeding to skills while wielding axes, increase damage in the back of an enemy with some skills with daggers, increase the duration of debuffs and stun with mauls skills, make swords skills do higher direct damages, etc… It would make choosing between these weapons much more interesting especially for tanks if they finally have a reason to go for one or another in the sword and shield skill line.

We've been wanting new weapons for years and if any year was gonna be the one to give it to us it was gonna be this one. Instead our "most requested new feature" was the Arcanist (which I'm not unhappy with).

At this point, I'm willing to bet we're not getting any. Certainly not next year.

A conjuration skill line is not a new weapon line.
