No more antiquities please

Please, just stop adding new ones.

When it first got added it was kinda fun- something different at least. But that was years ago, nothing has been done to freshen up the various mini games since then and for those of us who've done a lot... it simply isnt fun anymore.

Note I'm not saying to remove the existing ones. Hundreds of new players come in every year, some of them probably still enjoy it. And I'm not saying don't add new mythics, or new furnishings, etc, etc. Just add them in different ways to keep the game fresh.

You have a very cookie cutter design to dlc releases- 3 new craftsble sets, 6 new delves, etc. Most of that works great. But adding more and more stuff that's locked behind this boring mini game every big update is just... boring.

Just to give an example of adding mythics in different ways- if Oakensoul had been the reward for finishing High Isles main story I probably would have actually done High Isles main story.

Yet another "I don't want to do something in the game, please remove it so nobody can do it" thread.

I enjoy antiquities; I like that they encourage me to explore different parts of the game, zones and activities I may not have tried if the lead hadn't taken me there.

"... and for those of us who've done a lot... it simply isn't fun anymore." I've done quite a lot, with two toons at level max and piles of antiquities in the bank (over 120 void crystal anomalies, for example) and it remains fun. What is not very fun is the grind for some leads, especially those from treasure maps and dungeons.

What is with people and thinking just because something is there you have to do it? Same with housing just because there is a spot here with nothing on it I have to put something there even though I am running out of item slots.

No different than the card game for me; I don't enjoy it so I don't play it but would not want to see them discontinue to expand it as there are people that do enjoy it.

The biggest issue I have with the current system is how leads are sourced and the role RNG plays into that. Grinding DSA even on normal is a slog.. I ran EH 42 times before the lead I needed for Ring of the Wild hunt would drop. Lockboxes in Murkmire and water plants in Shadowfen also come to mind where all the toxicity and conflict could have easily been avoided with a better sourcing method.

    Favorite Foods and Potions
    https://media.giphy.com/media/3otPoTggaYFNd1FdAI/giphy.gif
    • Parse Food for PvE:(DPS) Ghastly Eye Bowl (increases Max Magicka by 4592 and Magicka Recovery by 459 for 2 hours).
    • Gold/Purple Food for Sorc PvP and Meme Tanking:(PvP) Clockwork Citrus Filet (increases Max Health by 3326, Health Recovery by 406 [useful if stage 1 vampire], Max Magicka by 3080, and Magicka Recovery by 338 for 2 hours). Witchmother's Potent Brew (Increase Max Magicka by 2856, Max Health by 3094, and Magicka Recovery by 315 for 2 hours.
    • Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
    • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar/arcanist will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

I knew it! Last week someone started a thread "Stop creating new companions". I compared companions to antiquities and ToT decks - a content system that, once introduced, expands with each new chapter. And I wrote:
Next time someone will demand to stop releasing new zones because he can't be bothered to complete them, or stop creating new classes because he does not use alts
Well, we now have the antiquities thread, so I guess that time is almost upon us. ;) It's astounding how people start to protest against new content instead of demands for more. What is happening? I may as well repeat myself from the previous thread:
It's strange to ask for a sudden cancellation of the system for everyone because you personally have enough of it. If you don't want it, don't play it. It's not the reason to deprive others of it

Antiquities are a fine way of adding any kind of stuff throughout the game without wasting resources imo. It's super quick mini game with no chance to fail (almost for some, maybe). While not really enjoyable it's at least insanely fast compared to, for example, an actual mini game like tot that would be a disaster to play before/instead excavations.

Gear antiquities gives me slight diablo 2 uniques vibe, unlike stale and uninspired set drops that I wish this game would at least slow down with.

Furnishings are a good way to present in-game lore while also adding some attachment for "earning" it instead of outright buying, making more of older content viable in a process.

I've disliked the antiquities system since inception. It's tedious, takes forever to grind out the skills, and as someone who has zero interest in housing it has no appeal to me what so ever.

Antiquities is a major distraction from the things that make/made ESO great; a great combat system. ESO would do a lot better if they focused on improving and maintaining the combat system vs. working on tedious mini games.

Only one of my characters tried and gave up with the antiquities mini game.

The fact that all of my other characters have leads thrown at them from all sorts for sources, including fishing, opening chests, crates & thieves lock boxes, even daily crafting writs is a pure anoyance. If they don't have the antiquity skills why give the leads? It's so frustating.

Some of us, after 7.5 years in this game in my case, do not quest at all. I would rather grind. If the game had cut scenes and the writers from Dragon Age: Origins, I might feel differently, though I'm not sure. It's just all about the combat and group activities at this point. I appreciate the environments and architecture of new overland zones, but that's as far as it goes.
