We need an "In Combat" mount icon

If I understand correctly from previous posts ZoS cannot easily correct the stuck in combat issue for PVP. Lately it has gotten worse, I've been in combat AFTER I died and respawned lol. Or in combat after running halfway across the map after whacking a dragon in elsewyer.

My suggestion is to have a red flashing icon similar to when your equipment needs repaired. This at least would eliminate having to try and mount about two million times to see if I'm still in combat.

Thoughts anyone? For those that disagree then perhaps an option to turn off the icon lol.

Just remove the restriction to mount in combat and introduce PvP mounted combat instead \o/

That's the best option but I recall seeing a post from ZoS a few years ago, apparently not being able to mount while in combat is embedded deeply in the code enough so that it's not something that could be done without sacrificing the first born skeever of every skeever in the land.

I am of the opinion that "stuck in combat" is intentional. I even vaguely remember reading that somewhere. What the motivation would be for such a "feature" is a complete mystery to me.

Furthermore, when you're stuck in combat, you're stuck in combat WITH someone. If you engage in combat with someone, and neither of you die, under certain circumstances, you're both "linked", so that any time they're in combat, you are too, even if you're at opposite ends of the map. That means that the game/server/Great Pumpkin/whatever not only has to keep track of who you're in combat with, but whomever you've been in combat with, and whomever THEY have been in combat with.

Might that cause some lag and performance issues?

This effect already exists when in a menu. The effects is that flashing red along the border to indicate you're in combat when you're not looking at the world.

There are addons to warn you you're in combat, and the example addon for teaching people how to make them in ESO makes a block of text that appears when you're in combat which is very neat.

Be nice if there was a setting to bring that red effect to the main view when in combat so you know when you're in combat or not without having to open a menu up or use an addon.

As silly as it sounds, this is one of the main reasons that I'm playing less and less right now, as this bug has been popping up more and more lately, and not just in PvP. There is absolutely no reason why you should be stuck in combat for 10-20 minutes at a time with no way to mount or even log out. The fact that ZOS can't fix this issue is downright mind-boggling.

If you're on PC platform, try the Combat Reticle plugin, then it's easy to see when you're in combat mode.

I used to use an addon that changed the colour of the compass to red whenever I was in combat. Simple, but did the job.

Yeah, I think that's why OP wants a more convenient way to tell, like a UI element you have on the screen, because in Cyro in particular it's annoying having to hit a menu constantly when you are in a hurry to get somewhere to see if the red outline is still blinking.

I have a slightly enlarge reticle. While in combat its red. The functionality is nice. Something like integrated into the base UI could be nice.

Exactly this. And it has been occurring more frequently lately and even after I die. Just something on the main screen would help so we don't have to continually hit another screen to find out if we are out of combat or not. PS4 btw so not add on sadly.

I agree that since Zenimax seems unable to fix the in-combat bug or does not consider it important enough to put time into rectifying it that an obvious status symbol to our combat status is very much warranted.
