How do you enjoy your class when it’s not meta/C tier in pvp?

A few many wise players say that chasing the meta in MMOs ruins the experience and that there’s no point to it since it always changes. So let’s say I choose a class which looks cool and I enjoy its play style. However, it comes out as C tier in pvp. What to do then?

Become a better player, I guess. While class matter, it hardly matters when you're an outstanding player. Someone who's great at playing Uber-Class will be great playing the "weak class", too. An overpowered class is just turning bad / mediocre players into slightly better ones, that's all.

meta picks only come into play when the players play on the same level, otherwise it's the skill that counts. there are a few exceptions, i will never be able to defeat a warden with crystallized slap with a mag sorc, unless he has a disconnect or forgets to use the skill, on the other hand he won't be able to defeat me either, but on the whole the skill is more important than the meta class.

I don't PvP much nowadays, but I can tell you that I am kinda um... "loyal" to my main character's class. So much so that I remember that during certain patch, when my class was trash tier (to the point that it was noticeably harder to do "kill X class quest" - because less people were playing as that class), I still played as that class. The funny (and kinda sad at the same time) thing was that I was still trying to optimize & use things I had available, without playing as a different class... I ended up using pretty much non-class abilities & passives lol... as those were better :D

Play up to the character's strengths and avoid situations that you know are too disadvantageous. Compensate for weak points with gear planning, Mundus stones etc. Try to find tactics that make the most of the character's strong points. Basically, like you would do with a more meta character but with some extra thought.

I have some experience with this, since I've played a lot in Cyrodiil with a magsorc built principally for solo PvE (and geared with all craftable sets). Can I go toe to toe with someone running a meta build? No, not really. But I find groups and participate in keep battles alternating between healing and picking off enemies with low health. Also, the character is surprisingly effective in ambush attacks against unwary single enemies, which I do sometimes for some cheap laughs. And due to some extra health and protection she can often survive an ambush gone awry and escape. It's great fun when I accept the fact that the build isn't the best and choose my battles accordingly.

Get better, have fun, and take the wins you can get.

Back when DK was in it's darkest years I had fun playing the class because it was honestly a lot of fun to play. Now it's apparently the meta, people are calling for nerfs, and because of all this I actually have less fun playing DK :heartbreak:

Finding success in a weaker class is a lot more fun than being on top, but at the same time people calling for you to be nerfed due to stupid things is kind of depressing tbh...

Personally I like to make a non meta class purposely goofy or trolly. It's actually pretty fun and liberating to not chase the meta all of the time. I don't care if I die that much so that makes my options a lot more abundant. It does make you a better player to play something more challenging and imaginative.
