I finally got Ember leveled and am now going back and leveling Isobel. Originally, I started leveling Isobel, and then switched to Ember after I got tired of being lectured by Isobel for taking things out of chests left out in the middle of nowhere. Ember is awesome! She is by far my favorite companion. And my wife even misses her. However, I did figure out a great way to power level a companion. Get a really good build and then take them through Dragon Star Arena. With a good XP scroll you can sometimes 4k xp per round of enemies, and you can that several times per level.
I really want to get Isobel leveled so I can get Ember back.
I am tempted to not level Isobel, but I have all the other companions maxed out.
Take mine! She is by far my favorite companion. And my wife even misses her.
Having dead NPCs all over town is really depressing and unsightly for the rest of us.2. NPC Mass Murder - Get a character you never intend to play and just kill NPC's, Skywatch on Auridon is the best way to do his.
- Pro: Easy to do on your own (like 15 times faster than DSA)
- Con: You need to learn to deal with Guards or you won't have any fun

What kind of help do you need in killing neutral NPC's? Just take your weapon and ram it into them. 😅

I don't need help. It's just something I won't do.
And killing a gang of Bandits is any better because their names are red and they attack first? At the end it's just dead bodies, no matter what it was before.

Actually, yes. They may be just pixels to you, but they're stories and characters to me. Also, towns are supposed to be and feel safe, as opposed to outside, where one will encounter predators and bandits. It's ridiculous to enter a town and see dozens of dead bodies everywhere.
And incidentally, I have not and do not intend to participate in the DB questline.

And yet you've played the Dark Brotherhood and killed innocent people before. There's no difference other than missing story plus the repeatable quests are also simple killing contracts. Be honest with yourself. 😁

I have the opposite experience. I always hit max rapport before max level. I've played through High Isle and Firesong and until a few months ago, I played at least two hours every day, and I still haven't gotten Ember or Isobel to max level. I alternate between them and they're both at level 14 right now.

Why would I want to get a large bounty? Also I doubt a neutral npc gives more exp than DSA. You lose coin and depending on the companion, rapport, taking this option. And you have to wait for them to respawn, which wastes just as much time. Roleplay aside, killing neutral npcs is not better than DSA.
