Finding Your Friend's Ghostly Arrow

When joining another player, it seems sometimes that they are in a previous version of a quest, where enemies may be spawning a normally friendly place or small mini-story elements, and when this happens you're unable to actually join them. You can find their location, marked by their normal arrow, however they aren't actually there

and you aren't able to help them...

i understand these parts are "meant" to be done in a single player scenario, however, people are able to join you if they have the quest as well, them just doing it alongside you.

in reality, it ends up working in a very backwards fashion, where sometimes you can run through a quest with the people around you basically completing it for you, then you can't go back to replay that quest line when a friend is on it alone, or otherwise needing help.

again, it's very confusing trying to link up with a friend, only to find out they're in an early part of a city quest that you completed long ago and you simply cannot see them, and kind of counter-intuitive when you think of it in the context of elder scrolls Online...

My suggestion: if I purposely join on a friend, i should be transported into their "quest status," giving me the same monsters (with reduced or removed loot, i don't care) and the same objectives, however with the text (completed) next to it.

I totally agree. Four of us logged on to play last night. Everybody was on a different part of a mundane quest and we couldn't see each other.

How is this ever going to work? Do *all* of the party members have to be at the same stage for *all* of their quests? That seems impossible...

I agree. If this is what left my friend and I trying to connect last night for hours, I am really irritated. I don't know how you expect people to connect to explore and adventure together if they have to be in absolute lockstep. It seems really silly since zergs of strangers are running through every quest. I did not group much in the beta except for pvp so I did not realize what a problem this presents. My friend and I could group together but we were invisible to each other. So, basically we could not play together no matter what we tried to do (we tried the group function to teleport to group member ... it took us to a wayshrine but we were still invisible).

I think this is got to be priority number one. So many people grouping and can't complete quests together or help your group complete them if you have already finished it. They got make it where groups are on the same instance or something. I always thought in SWTOR that the doors that were for certain classes was stupid, but now I know why they did that. So people can play together and share missions. If we are going to have to play the main story by ourselves, then why make this an MMO? It would be nice if maybe the would at least explain this feature if this is not a bug.

I agree. This is a very poor design implementation. The above suggestions are a good idea!

Hi random bump to hopefully bring this to the dev's further attention.

I can't figure this one out either. My guildies and I just keep logging out / in (and sitting through horrible load times) until one time we can all see each other. I wish I understood this...

Actually it's been fixed, or at least the initial problem. It is still happening in dungeons due to lag and they made the phasing instances much tighter spaces now as far as i understand when i was questing with my girlfriend in auridon shortly after 1.01 patch.
