Where do the crates go? Clearly Game Breaking! The majority of players agree!

Ok I'm happily just trotting along and see an NPC carrying a box or crate (most notably the guy on the bridge in Grahtwood near the where you turn in writ vouchers). I whip out my Blade of Woe and BAM he is dead, falls to the ground in pain! HOWEVER the box disappears! Where did it go? Why did it disappear? What was in the box in the first place?

ZoS this needs to be fixed asap, a vast majority of players agree with this as I polled two people in my guild and both agreed this is game breaking. This occurs world wide, it's not just a local phenomenon!

At the very least perhaps an event quest where if you kill an NPC carrying a crate you get a chance at getting a crown crate so we can at least open the darn thing and see what was in it?

    Huh?

    If it's just a random NPC, the 'look' it has (a guy carrying a box) is just cosmetic. You might get something random, but there is no guarantee that just because the image carries a box that you will get something from it.

    Did you check the box before you killed him, to see if it was empty?
    <sarcasm>

    Crates are full of helium. Try looking up next time, and if you're quick enough, you'll see them float away.

    Where do the crates go?

    A philosophical question worthy of So-crates.

    The crate was brought forth with magic by the NPC to make it appear he is working. Just an illusion that fades when the NPC dies.
    and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."
