loss of event tickets

So here is why I posted and this is posted for the people make the decisions at ESO not the players..

I go and kill a boss mob in a dungeon with one of my characters and then realize I already have 12 event tickets. I now have lost the event tickets for that day.

Why is this logic used? Shouldn't I be able to go and use some of my event tickets and then go and kill another boss mob and get the event tickets for that day???

The current way it works is not right. I am not asking that I get the ones from other days just that day.

There isn't even a message that I have seen the lets me know I am full of tickets so I can't get any.

If I don't look I could go days and not know that I am losing tickets!!!

An addon called "Event Tracker" tracks your tickets for you and warns you when you have 10 or more tickets.

ZOS warns us that we can have a maximum of 12 tickets at a time and any more will be lost, I think, with every event that has tickets.

They say we will get the tickets the first time we earn a gold reward, not the first time we earn the reward when we have room for the tickets. Why warn us we can only have 12 tickets only to delay giving us the tickets when we earn more than the 12 we are allowed?

If I create a ring or necklace of some set, improve its quality to Gold (Legendary) and then accidentally deconstruct it, Zos is not going to refund me the chromium Plating or anything else for my foolishness, nor should they.

You lost 2 tickets, learn from your mistake and don't make it again.

    Good luck

Of all the things I have lost, I miss my mind the most...

If you don't care enough to check how many tickets you have, you likely do not really need the lost tickets. Happens to me all the time. Plenty of group repair kits lost, not a big deal.

Every platform has a very simple and quick task on each platform to check how many tickets one has. It is my fault if I neglect to check my tickets and rush to get a kill for the day's tickets.

I try to remember to look at my tickets after I get a kill so I can spend them before I log out for the day to make sure I do not make a mistake the next day. Even then, I still check my ticket count the next day. It is not Zenimax's fault if I err on this.

FYI, spend some tickets today, so you have space for tomorrow's tickets.

That's why I check how many I got before doing the first event task of the day.
That reminds me, I'm currently on 12. Better spend some tomorrow morning.

The other day, I was at Kra'gh, just about to pick up my loot when I realised I had 12/12 tickets. I didn't pick them up, teleported out, bought the hourglass, took a shrine straight back in, and managed to run back and loot his corpse properly without anything resetting.

Edit - whilst I agree that ultimately it is your responsibility to check on these things...

If I want to trash something like a purple plunder skull, I get a little two second countdown before I can confirm I want to throw away some fish bait. So it's not like the game doesn't have these little checks in place to save us from ourselves already - so why not with tickets?

During the Zenithar event, I was warned during quest turn in that I was at my 12 ticket limit, and that I would forfeit my tickets should I proceed to accept the rewards. I definitely appreciated being warned then, and it would be great if they could find a way to do that with dropped loot tickets too.

My solution is to spend tickets on the day I get to 12 (or enough for the next item I want) instead of waiting until the next day, that way I don't forget.

I do take a minute to think about it first, because I like to end events as close to 12 tickets as I can in case I'm not able to play the next one, but if I decide I want to hold onto the tickets I've got that means I'm done with the event and won't get or won't care about losing any more event tickets. If I want to keep playing but won't have time to get another 12 I buy something cheap where I will be able to replace the tickets.

But the important thing is I make that decision when I reach 12 tickets, instead of hoping I remember to do it the next day when I may have other things on my mind and won't remember that I need to spend some first.

Is it annoying, sure. Is it 100% avoidable yes. This is on the OP just check quick before you do anything. It's not hard.

But, the previous day, when you reached 12 after picking up tickets, would have been your warning. The 12/12 pop up would have been the clue to go and spend tickets then or the next day, before earning more.

Really. I have exactly 3 tickets. I know this, even while not in game, because I track them and make sure that by this time of the event, I am in a comfortable spot to have the rewards and end the event with 12 tickets banked for the next event. I will have exactly 11 tickets Tues morning when I log in to claim them on the last day.

Assuming there's no maintenance to cut the last day short, leading to multiple "missed the last day's tickets/boxes/etc! Why do they do maintenance on event days!?!?" complaint threads. Like almost every event.

Prep for incoming, then, because there's a major patch Tuesday with the Firesong DLC dropping, one day before the event ends.

I always assume I'll lose at least 1 day to maintenance, in addition to any I might miss for my own reasons. On the rare occasions it doesn't happen it's a nice surprise, but there's usually at least 1 maintenance during an event.

Always check how many tickets you have, even if you're almost sure you're nowhere near 12. Do that before you engage in any ticket-earning activities. If you want to add a layer of safety, check how many you got before logging off: if you're full, go spend them; if you're almost full, you'll likely keep that in mind the following day.

My issue is that why should I lose them? I should be able to kill another boss after freeing up room and get them then.

Also why limit how many I can have before I spend them?

They probably want to limit how many tickets we can hold so they decided 12 was the arbitrary number to cap them at. Or maybe there is some background data ingame that prevents them from increasing or storing tickets past 12. Unfortunately we can only speculate until they actually tell us.

Just cross your fingers and hope that they increase the number of tickets we can store in the future, like they did with the transmute crystals.

Having 12 tickets banked or 100 banked, I'm pretty sure, has absolutely no effect on server load or data retention. I would guess many years ago 12 tickets was enough for an event, but now since there are "upgrades" now associated with several events, many more tickets are required and the limit hasn't been addressed as it's low priority.

Hopefully, ZOS will increase the limit to at least 24.

The decision to have it work this way was surely a decision not to take the trouble to make it work better.

I.e., it's not so much that they want it to exactly be this way as that they don't object enough to change it.

Losing tickets from not being aware is on the player. Losing tickets because the game is down for maintenance the last morning of the event is on Zenimax. So tomorrow will be the last day of the event and the game will be down during the time I get to play in the morning and by the time I do log on later in the day the event will be over and I have lost the daily tickets.

That to me is a bigger issue than simply not paying attention to your total tickets.
