Oakensoul Leads?

I am currently trying to get the leads in Malabal Tor and it is not dropping. One site said in the Velyn Harbor Inn, another said any mob in Malabal Tor. Neither are dropping even after killing hundreds of them.
Where is this lead really at? Should I do the main story quest? Other quests? Dolments? Delves? Something else?

Fenris_Arainai✭✭✭✭I got mine in Velyn Harbour. It dropped before I finished the main quest over there, so not so many mobs. Sounds like you're unlucky (I don't think having a quest made a difference for me).Glory to you and your Dunmer House!0 -

✭✭Took me about 15 minutes I just followed the river down the east side of the zone killing werewolfs, beetles, mammoths etc. Didn't go anywhere near Valyn Harbor.0 -

✭✭✭✭✭I just finished that lead (last one for the ring) on one of my accounts. After I started counting (probably after the first hundred mobs or so) I killed 536 more before it dropped - off one of the RaGada Bravos north of Velyn Harbor.
The first account I got the ring on, this lead dropped on the 3rd zombie near Wilding Run. Sometimes RNG loves you, sometimes not so much.______________________________________________________

Actually, what I did was start at Abamath, and simply kill my way throughout the zone, south to north, then on the other (west) side, north to south.
And I HATE killing my way through zones. But - if one wants the ring, one must do what is required. Oh, and as a "bonus" I got the Mammoth Skull furnishing gold lead and the Hollowbone Wind Chime purple furnishing lead too. ✭✭✭✭This lead took me the longest to get. At first I spent 45 mins near Velyn Harbour killing everything and didn't get it. The next day I logged in and just ran around the zone killing anything. Got it in about 15 minutes. Some of the sites online say the best chance is the mobs around Velyn Harbour, but I don't think that's true. I think anything in the zone has an equal chance. Make sure you're not in a delve or dungeon.0 -
TmzOS✭✭I got this randomly and haven't noticed when, but the crab wb and the vent lead took some extra time. Overall with luck you can get all in a day (murkmire lead can be a bit more tricky since it is more limited to find). The secret is never mind it, will drop fast lol... when we really want those things takes much more time because yes.0 -

Yeah, the vent lead is another royal pita for me - ping's outrageous, so I wind up dead a lot, and so far the only times I've got the lead to drop are when I DON'T die. Ugh.______________________________________________________

ceiron✭✭✭✭Honestly after initial pc horror stories on ps eu safe box 1st. Crab boss 4th. Nodes 13th. Mob 1st. Vents 12 ish.
My friend was quicker overall also.
So actually was ok. Compared to kilt which was horrendous for myself.0 -
