Summerset vortexes empty

I'm trying to to the summerset vortexes (they are shown as such in the map), but they are always empty. No one ever shows up. Do they need some trigger event to work? (I'm also doing the sinking summerset event, but it doesn't help at all)

There are 6 and they pop up in a rotation. Once you've discovered all six you'll be able to see which one is up because its icon on the map changes- it becomes animated differently to show it's up and changes again if people are actively fighting at it.

The same applies to dark anchors, dragons and harrowstorms.

They're not a particularly popular activity but theres usually 1-2 other people around when I do them.

I found this kinda interesting btw...

If you turn up at a geyser and just kill the first guy you can simply stealth out, wait five minutes and the final boss will spawn. Theres no need to fight the waves of adds because it's a simple timer. Start the geyser and 5 minutes later the final boss pops out, regardless of how many waves of adds you've killed.

Only one is active at a time now, and which one it is shows up on the map like Harrowstorms do.

I see, I was kinda right when I said "unlucky". Basically you have one chance in 6 to get the right one (where normally you would have one in three). So if you don't have the continuous flow of players like yu have in the desert, it can result in a very long wait.

and what about the other waves of enemies? Won't they be there, all at once, while you fight the boss?

That would take all the fun out of it for me.
