Should locked boxes disappear after being unlocked?

Should safeboxes, theive's troves and chests disappear once they have been unlocked, whether they have been fully looted or not? I feel this would be a good idea because it would stop all the "Stop leaving loot in opened chests!" and all the controversy over leads in safeboxes. What do you think?

On what timeline? They definitely shouldn't despawn immediately, sometimes I misclick and fail to loot or get interrupted by an enemy. But I'm not one of the complainers, half the free loot is still more than no free loot, so I say leave them until they refresh, which is what already happens.

I was thinking as soon as the box closes but you bring up a good point. Maybe something like 30 seconds regardless of whether or not it was reopened. But no matter how long the delay, once the box closes the timer would start.

The timer needs to be decently long. You can easily get stuck in combat for a minute or two, and shouldn't lose your chest to that.

Mat nodes, troves that have the items for antiquities should all be static items, but they should retain the timer after a person picks it allowing the next person to be able to harvest it as well. As I said in the other thread this would illiminate the trolling, hatespeach, and other things that contribute to a toxic game invironment. This is an archaic mechanic that even Warcraft got rid of.

Edit: I gave up trying to find the items for these legendary pieces because there's just too many trolls and click-trains running around, and I have better things to waste my time on than being antagonized for "fun".

I have no idea why you say this would cut the controversy over leads in safeboxes. It would remove the discussion and possible arguments about how to open them, sure. But the fundamental issue is that far more people want this lead than the number of boxes in the zone can support. As long as that remains unchanged, there will be arguments and trolling and other unpleasantness.

At least it will stop players from standing in lines and calling players who choose to loot the entire box trolls.

I just feel they are taking advantage of the fact that the box doesn't disappear right away and using it in a manner that was not intended.

I mean, yes, that makes sense but this really is a very minor issue that is only temporarily becoming very significant due to the sheer volume of people trying to farm Broakensoul, which will inevitably die down in a few weeks, if not sooner.

I kind of think they are fine as for when and how they despawn. I also think the items in harvest nodes, chests and all that fun stuff should be determined the first time it is opened. So if the first person doesn't get a lead no other player will get one from that chest either.
As has been pointed out we can't dictate how other players play and if they want everything they shouldn't feel pressured to leave something behind. I'm still not convinced the lead is available to anybody but the one person that opened the box.

Probably going to be a while before I try for this lead but when I do I'm not turning off auto loot. I also wouldn't check a box if others are around waiting for a chance to check it. If I am first on scene though it will be gone.

How can you know that it's not intended to be used that way? Has there been any official word on that? Lockboxes and chests have been this way for as long as I remember.

I said that "I just feel that". This is my opinion not fact. But I seriously doubt groups of players gathering around one box to try to get a lead was what they had in mind.

Never underestimate players ability to provide toxic behaviors. The only way to taken toxic behaviors out of any MMO is to remove the people from the game.

Also, I voted no. The easier solution is simply to not limit leads in such a way, or to increase the drop rate of leads.

I'd prefer a loot all or none.Force ppl to take all to make it repawn faster. Also, add a cannot unlock chest/safeboxes if inventory is full.

The respawn timer is exactly the same, whether the container is fully looted or not. The timer starts when the container is opened.

Boxes should be instanced. Just like containers you can steal from. So that one player would not affect what other players can loot. So, you find a safe box that spawns (but only for you), you open it, take loot, it de-spawns (but only for you) and you search for another one. Other players will see "their" safe boxes they can interact with.

Note: Voted no, since there is no "other" option I guess ;)

With the limited number of spawn locations what else might they have had in mind?

Obvs I voted yes, but I'm more of a 'Maybe' response.

I like the idea of having a timer or something that resets them after a time, maybe a couple minutes?
But I'm also one of the players who doesn't mind finding chests with leftovers.

I look at it this way: If the person before me took everything, I would get nothing at all.
Usually what is left is non-set gear but it all still breaks down into nice useful resources I can use.
So, free materials vs nothing, I'll take the free mats TYVM :)

I've found various leads in already opened chests with otherwise "leftovers" in them. So, no. This thing with the Murkmire safeboxes will be over eventually. I'm probably waiting a while (maybe a long while) to try for that lead.

    No.

It's very rare for me to come across a chest or trove that's been partially looted. It almost never happens. And I open a lot of chests. Bastian says I have a knack for finding them.

The one time I can remember coming across a partially looted chest somewhat recently, it had a set piece that I needed for the collection. So I was happy with that.

On the other side, I once had no choice but to leave a Deadlands treasure map in a chest. (I already had a copy on me.) I am quite certain that the next person to come across that chest was not disappointed.

Sometimes I see people leave stuff I want.
