Fell through map in Cyro today and got banned.

I fell through the floor of a house this afternoon in Cyro near Aleswell. I was in the air for about 10 seconds and then it sent me to town. I started running back to the teleporter and my client crashed. I got an email saying my subscription was canceled and then another one saying I was using exploits.

I’ve spent thousands of dollars and hours playing and supporting this game since launch. I’m in total disbelief right now and my email and voicemail haven’t been responded to. I really need someone to take a closer look at this please. I’ve never been reprimanded for anything other than getting sassy on the forums. Please help.

I've fallen through the floor many times, feared through walls, and even smacked by mobs into the checkerboard zones; I haven't had any violations placed against me. Although all of them were the cause of mobs or abilities gone wonky like gap closers falling through the floor once I reached my target.

I think they think I was flying around somehow, if someone could look at whatever technical info is there they’ll see I wasn’t up to anything. I’ve spent most of my time lately doing the 4 man trifectas and helping others with the ones I have; I’m not some weirdo that flies around cyro or would risk their account doing anything of the sort

LMFAO that's funny. Customer support on this game is the worst in the entire genre lol. Literally, the worst in the genre of current MMOs. I think the CS staff is down to three interns in a broom closet down in the basement with bad lighting and old hotel chairs.

I've also fallen through the floor several times, but I don't think it was ever in Cyrodiil.

Most of the times I was in the Bank of Daggerfall in Glenumbra and somehow fell through the world and landed in a section of water below-- which looked like if I were to swim beyond the rectangular area of water then I'd fall into nothingness-- with the bank, other buildings, NPCs, and other players visible far above me. A couple of other times it happened when I was inside a house in Aldcroft and the locked trap door or whatever that was supposed to prevent you from going downstairs into the basement didn't get drawn and there was just a hole that sent me falling into nothingness.

I wonder if the fact that it happened in Cyrodiil is what triggered the cheat-detection algorithm or whatever led to the ban?

I didn’t think any of those houses near Aleswell were able to be entered. Don’t they all have chains over the doors?

The OP might have been talking about one of those partially-destroyed houses you see scattered all across Cyrodiil, usually with burn damage and parts of their walls and roofs missing. Some of them contain lore books-- letters, notes, books, etc.-- or a lootable container or two, maybe even a heavy sack.

I've fallen through the ground in Cyrodiil before and nothing happened to my account. I've seen streamers fall through the ground in Cyrodiil and nothing happened to them. They just laughed at it.

It was probably some in-game cheat engine that thought you were cheating. This should get resolved. It happens.

I was banned once for typing this character in chat: " " (inside the ") It's an empty space that you can send via the ingame chat and it looked funny. They took almost 2 months to unban me for something that I had no way of knowing it wasn't allowed, it's just a character in the chat. But yeah, good luck OP hope they're fast.

Partially destroyed building between bleaks and aleswell. DC had pushed us out and I was fleeing back towards bleaks. When COVID started I was in Wrothgar and I fell off of a cliff but got stuck in the air for an extended period of time, sort of bouncing around on the side of a mountain like a ping pong ball. They locked that character then I called them and they lifted it, said I triggered something. That’s why I think this is related but I obviously can’t be sure.

They haven’t replied to phone or email. This is devastating and I honestly feel like I deserve an explanation and reversal. If I’m wrong and I said or did something I deserve it to be identified, everyone does. I spent a fortune on that account over the years not just in money but in time and energy. I have all types of weekly groups I heal that are bewildered right now as well.

Nothing. It sounds like they banned a lot of people last week and that there are multiple cases like mine among it, so I need to be patient. WoW just did the same thing on the same day according to their forums. The only relation here I can see is that the end of last week was the beginning of the 3rd fiscal quarter.

I don't do PvP and thankfully nothing like this has happened to me.

But I can only imagine the frustration to be banned for nothing and then have to leap hurdles to get reinstated.

As a fan, I would suggest to Zen that all mistaken ban complaints must be investigated promptly. And you should find a way to compensate players for the frustration when you have screwed up. Also perhaps some due process (like notification and request for explanation) before you do ban someone. OP could easily have explained this.

I cannot imagine much worse in this game than being banned and falsely accused of cheating.

OP's story is horrific. @LesserCircle's story is even worse.

This stuff is automated and then it goes to someone’s desk. Let’s not get carried away until we see how those people handle it. It sucks but it’s like automated traffic tickets some of which I’ve gotten before. It’s just a machine maybe the driver had a reason maybe they didn’t, the judge will look.

Sounds like you may have taken a few deep breaths since the original and 16th posts. Happy they are looking into this for you and let us know when it is resolved!

Good luck getting this sorted. This just shouldn't be a thing. There has got to be better ways of handling these types of situations. Let us know how this goes. Again good luck.

Damn that is awful. I used to get short bans in WOW all the time for perversion in Pornshire, but I've cleaned up my act (as far as you know...) in ESO.

Anyway.

Hope this gets settled, unintentional animation glitches are no reason for a ban.

Having fallen through the map on more than one occasion myself, including once ending up travelling some distance and landing quite a way from where I started, you have my sympathy.

You are right that it is the sort of thing that can trigger automated systems that are in place to detect cheating and automatically issue bans on that basis - hopefully it should be fairly easy for them to manually check that it was a one-off glitch and restore your game permissions.

I got a character (not account) banned in Cyro last year for some "speed cheat". It was a speed demon thief that I only took there for the Midyear Mayhem (so I could avoid pvp completely), obviously speedy in stealth, but very vanilla. They unbanned me a few days later, but guy was genuinely sure I was using a speed cheat... I survived another MM there after that but I'm kinda wary of the upcoming one again. And staying out of Cyro unless absolutely necessary I mean, everybody is aware of the bots gallore we got and they need to combat them somehow, but I have no idea what created the false positive and so no idea how to avoid it, and I'd rather not get banned...

Moral of the story: if you fall through the world anywhere but Cyrodiil it's a bug but if it happens in Cyrodiil it's a flying exploit immediately actionable with auto-ban and sub cancelation lol.

This is worrysome due to this happens very often in IC as there are banner bosses that will knock you through the grates and into the void area where you sometimes get back to the group and sometimes not and just have to follow the group as best you can nearby. You can not wayshire out of IC or any other tricks due to being a PvP area.
