did the High Isle release date change?

I could have sworn that the original date was 6/4. I even put it in my calendar.

Bad enough that they don't plan these things for holiday weekends; it would have been great to play over the long Memorial Day weekend. But now it's releasing on a Monday morning? Sometimes I wonder whether ESO understands that the people who spend the most money on the crown store, ESO+, etc. are, I don't know, people who have jobs?

It's been 6/6/22 for as long as I've been tracking it (a little over a month).

Well, I've had it in my calendar a lot longer than that. I preordered months ago.

It has always been 6/6/22 ever since it was announced. As for why it isn't released during the weekend, my guess would be because ZOS employees don't all work weekends? Also, a lot more people would be disrupted by downtimes over the weekend, a week day when more people are at school or work makes a lot more sense.

Edit: link to a website article from Jan this year to show the release date as 6/6/22 https://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/news/post/61501

We'll get it on monday and if we are brave enough, we will be able to play on patch day, which is always a risk. I guess, I will look for a quiet inn (but with a decent bard) and dive into Tales of Tribute - I expect this part of the patch to work properly.

Fair enough, but then the logical choice would be to release it on, like, a Thursday (as many other games do), so that by Saturday it's in relatively sturdy shape. As it is, I'll be shaking my fists at the kids on summer vacation all week, yelling at them to get off my lawn as they get to play while I have to be a productive member of society.

While a Wednesday or a Thursday might make more sense, the later in the week it is the less time they will have if something does go horribly wrong. And stuff can and does, unfortunately, go wrong at times; e.g. players not being able to access the content they had pre-ordered months ago while others who don't own the content can access it. Among other things, like a host of issues logging in due to the rush of players, essentially DDoSing the servers, with a new expansion launch.

If they release early in the week, they have a full work-week to iron it all out, sort out the servers, etc. I'd take one evening being inconvenienced if it means I won't have to wait through an entire weekend (or longer if it happens to be a statutory holiday in ZOS-land preior to or following the weekend).

Oooh, sorry bud. Turns out playing Tales of Tribute on launch day will cause you to clip through the floor into the void and get you perma-banned for a couple days until ZoS sorts you out. Tough break.

Joking aside, hopefully it's not too buggy on launch.

I prefer it on a weekday. I'll have my computer on and downloading it while I'm at work that day. Then when I come home it's ready to launch. Besides, chapter launches the past few times have been pretty rocky. So I wouldn't expect a stable game till at least a few days after launch anyways lol

Just wondering but they did say you had to pre-order before the 4th, is it possible you confused the two dates? I have done that and similar before bud.

I'm pretty sure that for the PC it releases this Monday 6/6. They even have a longer maintenance window for it.

Sometimes I wonder wheter people understand that developers making the game have life outside the studio and developing the game is just their job so they I don't know, wont do it in weekends?

Thus, we ought to be prepared for lags, unexpected disconecctions, etc. @axi DOES have a point. Of which a part of the playerbase is totally oblivious.

It will be annoying, but ah... what can you do. Just be patient.

and I think DLCs and chapters being released on a Monday is common. I have never seen one released on a Saturday or any weekend day. Most of their workforce would be off.

Yup, always a toss-up on how well the update works. I always like to think of it as an opportunity to play my favorite mini-game, "spot the conflicting add-on" LOL.

Exactly for this reason the company still exists.
As far as I can remember they had always released their new content on Monday. The reason is simple, they need to try the live version with less players first so they have time to fix it by the time all the players flood the server during the weekend.

Releasing new content for the weekend would be a disaster. It would be really hard to troubleshot anything then if something goes wrong, and there will be no one to fix it (or do you expect them to work 7/7?)

I just wanna know what time the new chapter is going active.
    Right before maintenance?
    Immediately after maintenance?

Your confusion may stem from the fact that the "bonus" white Fawn pet was only available if you pre-ordered before the 4/4. 💕

After that it was no longer in the bundle. 😀

Very excited about it, too. :) I'm trying to get some chores and things done before Monday so I'll have more time to play High Isle in the first few days it's out.

I solved that problem years ago by not using any add-ons. Made my game play a lot more enjoyable. I like the non-intrusive default setting of the interface, it is there when I need it and otherwise out of my way. Now I will customize the compass to show just the current quest-relevant markers and it will be even better.

By not using a mini-map for example, I got used to navigate the landscape by landmarks and this way I feel much more at home with the environment. I very rarely have to use the map - mainly for teleportation, but otherwise I know my way around quite well. I do a pretty similar thing with excavation territories - first time I go around the outskirt of the area to memorize it's borders and to get a good idea, what the area is like, and later on I don't need to look at the map anymore.

Yes and no. Fact they are just regular workers like everyopne else and shouldn't be expected to work during weekends is one thing. Fact that sometimes what they are doing during their work hours can be extremly dissapointing is another.

Balance will be in a way I don't agree with for PvP, so I choose to do something else with my time. In reality, I will likely just read a book or exercise more where I would be playing ESO and just log for daily.

I usually exercise and play the game at the same time, but that's too much work for me next patch. Thus, I must turn into a ghost...
