So in guild's you can edit your own notes (assuming you have the permissions), however you cannot do so in friend's list menu.
You can make a note that only you can see for your friends, however you cannot make a note for yourself that all your friends can see.
Let's say you want to update a group of people in your friends list you will be absent for X amount of time, the only way of doing so is either sending each one mail or communicating outside of ESO.
Allowing us to have self notes that people in our friend's list can read can help out a ton, and is a simple QOL update that in theory shouldn't be too hard to code since it already exists in the guild menu.
Example:
Let's say you are crafter/carry seller/exp booster etc.
You can make a note for your friends.
Offering XXX/YYY/ZZZ services, Online from Mon-Thu 8-10 cest. Send orders via mail
That way people that log in at times you are off can see your message and send you requests while you are off.
