Markyn Ring of Magesty leads… omg

So I just recently bought the deadlands upgrade pretty much specifically for the markyn ring. I don’t mind a bit of a grind, I’m no stranger to mmos, but I’m finding one thing to be pretty annoying.

Had to do banished cells 2 a couple of times… no problem.

Was really dreading the coldharbour treasure chest search but ended up getting it in an acceptable half hour or 45 minutes.

The deadlands daily coffer lead? Pfff. The first time I did them both, on my main and mythic finder, I got a lead for the Spauldor of ruin or whatever. Okay, no problem, I found out I can do the daily quests on my alts. Thing is I really only play this game for pvp. I only have 3 functioning characters at any given time the others are in varying states of undress. So the first night I’m excited and ready to go… only one lead left, I got this! I manage to slog through the two dailies on 4 or 5 characters the first night. No luck in 8 or 10 tries. Okay so… acceptable mathematical loss, I’m just unlucky np np.

Get on again around midday the next day… it’s the weekend… manage to find like 6 characters I can do them on. No luck in 12 tries. Can’t try again for 20 hours. It’s 20 hours later now, I’ve already done it again on 3 characters and no luck.

I doubt it’s glitched but I gotta say it’s pretty stupid to have somethings drop rate be so apparently low and be tied to an ungrindable DAILY. 20%. 20% drop rate for something like this… no less. This is unacceptable… or at least it would be except zos is already holding my money so I guess I’ve accepted it haven’t I?

Group up and share the dailies (you can also share from alt to friend). so you can do all dailies per day and alt (around 8 or so?). but yeah it is a stupid lead and took me like 50 boxes…

What's up with the lead drop chance. Done countless runs and still no leads. The leads in question are

Crimson Diamond from Falkreath Hold chests

Stainless Imperial Band from Monsters in Black Drake Villa

Just wondering if the lead isn't bugged @ZOS_Kevin because these drop chance is ridiculous given how many runs we've done so far in trying to get these leads.

Agreed, I didn't even know it was a thing until I got it accidentally. During the Jubilee event I was running with guild groups through the dailies and we were all sharing them with each other so this was about 6-8 dailies in Deadlands each day of the event. On day 7 or 8 I ended up getting a lead and I was surprised and then looked up what it was. I'm really glad to have got that out of the way...

Yeah that lead is stupid, I did those dailies for over a week on 8+ chars every day until i finally got it.

I’m confused about the sharing quests idea. So I’m already doing the quests on as many characters as I can… does sharing them somehow allow you to get it twice in a day per character?

i think you can do it either 4 or 6 times per character if you have enough people in your group or just ask for daily shares in area text chat

as long as it's a different daily than your character has done, you can accept a share, of course you need to find someone willing to share in the first place.

From my observation on Xbox, not many people share, I only encounter quest sharing in the gold coast, and basically no other zone.

Okay thanks this will help. I’m on Xbox NA and in the last two days I’m definitely not the only one stuck in this loop I have seen people in zone sharing quests.

I want to double down on my previous statement though… 20% drop chance for something like this… no less. It’s a “daily” quest and, this workaround notwithstanding, why should it ever take more than one day to get a SINGLE lead??? I don’t mind grinding, to a point, but if it’s going to be this low of a drop chance it shouldn’t be tied to something with limitations on how much you can do it.

I really hate the RNG factor for lead drops.

I have the same problem for the kilt and fete ring, I have yet to get the drop from the Mazzatun boss or from DSA despite the number of times I've run them. And those aren't even things I can do alone like most of the other leads for things.

They need to just let the leads drop from doing whatever content they tie them too automatically. Then maybe have them go to RNG after that for extra drops.

Some of us have been asking for some sort of 'soft cap' (every time you fail to acquire x your chances of acquiring x in the next attempt increase by y%) or 'hard cap' (after failing to obtain x after n attempts you automatically get x on the next attempt) on RNG across the board for a long time.

As a matter of fact such 'soft cap' already exists on some crown crate rewards as per:

On some rewards, chances improve with each successive missed roll and resets once you receive the reward.

However this always falls on deaf ears. I have never seen it even acknowledged by the devs in forums, live streams or any other medium they use to 'communicate'.

As an example, today, as I write these lines, I have spent the last four hours in the Atoll of Immolation, having completed the event 37 times with no motif page drop.

The system should not have room for extremes like this.

I got the daily lead on my 1st daily but I had to kill daedrats for eons. Lead farming is like playing WoW again. Completely cancerous that one made me take a long break tbh. This kind of grind just makes me not want to play, the only consolation is only having to do it once. I feel your pain dawg. If only they just put this stuff behind some actual challenge but then it wouldn't be as accessible so mindless grind was the best option I guess.

i've done banished cells multiple times since blackwood came out and still haven't gotten the final lead i need for the ring. it's a bit frustrating.

I've tried doing that... cleared all golden leads, and still. no lead has dropped from the deadlands daily.

Sooo frustrated trying to get the Morpholith Shank lead from Coldharbour! I wish I’d thought to count how many chests I’ve opened…

I dug up all my gold leads, even the Void Crystal, although it replaced itself before long, and have like three purple. I have the Treasure Hunter passive on, I’ve been all over the map and in the public dungeon. Just bad RNG or what else can I try?

I enjoy WORKING for things, but rolling dice again and again is not fun after a few tries.

Edit: FINALLY found it! I kind of wish I’d kept track of how many chests it took but maybe it’s better not! Coldharbour wasn’t too busy last night and I ended up just making a kind of circuit by the Manor of Revelry with Mirri watching my back while I was half-watching a movie. That made it less aggravating.

Good luck, I spent over a year getting markyn's lead in Deadland daily coffer. I don't know how to assess this drop mechanism, if the lead is put in a place where it can't be (or at least not easily) farmed, then it should at least have a higher chance of dropping, not less
