Heavy armor 'bras'

Why does the belly have so little protection on armor styles? Normally it's the part that you want to protect the most with a Cuirass.

I get that armor brassieres are sexy and I like them for certain looks, but to have that on most new styles is a waste imo. So much potential wasted. And this not only applies to styles that show the naked belly, but a lot of styles are very light around that area and most don't even have a protection plate there.

Side note: to have some light armor styles that actually look like clothing would be cool, something that can give you the "mage" look, think of TESV's robes, they're so cool, I wish I could look like that, a mage adventurer scholar.

IMO ESO's art team needs to implement more variety.

Also the hide shoulders option implementation is long overdue and please introduce more belt styles that hide the boots kneeplates!

Personally, I see the "battle bras" as them 'implementing more variety', since we've had dozens upon dozens of mostly-to-fully armored motifs up to this point.

(it's also a case of providing some motifs that will actually show some of the piles of body tattoos they keep putting out, which are mostly wasted in a land of reasonable armor designs. /shrug)

Actually, we didn't used to get many of these- there has been recent requests for more skin showing on motifs and costumes, and so I feel these newer styles having this is catering to player requests for more skin on both male and female outfits. I've personally been enjoying the fact that more shirtless options have been made available for male characters, and I'd like to see more of this along side fully covered motifs, not less. We need an equal balance.

I do agree that we need more "clothing" type style pages in general, not just mages robes but things like jackets over shirts, lighter adventurers wear. Not costumes, but motifs that can be mixed and matched, along with better shoulder pieces that aren't completely armored.

I don't think you can have both functionality and retain the shape of these styles, it has to be one or the other. The naked belly thing is not necessarily a disadvantage, depending on fighting style, character background, etc., for instance, Sai Sahan fights bare chested, but I guess for the bras there might be a magic shield or another RP reason if one finds them immersion breaking. I wasn't a fan of that bra armour from the crates, from the preview it looked as though it made the torso really wide, but I think it's cool to have more variety if non traditional armour styles.

Don't get stuck on Earth's silly rules of physics now. Basic Tamrielic Law of Enchanting #1: Strength of enchantment raises exponentially as the area of enchanted material decreases. Therefore assuming the enchantment level used is constant, an enchanted chainmail bikini will provide considerably more protection than a set of full plate when enchanted with the same spell. So will a properly enchanted Nordic bathing towel. Actual real metal plate armor is for those who lack the magical skill or financial resources for full and proper enchanting. ;)

Generally not a fan of battle bras, despite me currently wearing the Second Seed torso. But very happy with this games lack of battle bras and battle stilettos. Not a problem if there's only a couple for those that have belly fetishes or like to show off some tattoos.

I'd just be happy if we could get some heavy armor with breasts not hammered into them. I really like the Silver Rose heavy chest on guys cause it's a pretty accurate chest plate.

Meanwhile it's boobplate on women ._.

I don't understand how this is a problem? It's not like there isn't outfit styles or costumes to choose from that fully covers up your character. There are tons of them in the game. You literally have to choose to have a more revealing outfit at this point. There should be equal amount of both. I like having my female characters running around in very revealing outfits (although my current outfit actually covers the skin completely because the style I'm using looks cool lol) but I do like those styles. They should absolutely give us more revealing outfits AND outfits that cover up your character. For both sides of the spectrum that want either one.

Although the first thing they need to do is free us from the diper of the Timbercrow costume...

With all the shorter skirts floating around, some thigh high boots, or at least over the knee would be good.

I only use female characters, they all have differing levels of armour, but several times I have thought that long boots would just finish an outfit off.

Battle bra's most definitely have their place.

I remember years ago when they redesigned the Orsimer heavy armor to quash the "boob window" [inaccurate, because it showed the upper chest, not really the breasts] (which my Orsimer really liked - distracting for male opponents), and they completely dumped the original redgard armor (current stuff still looks like painful trash crossed with longjohns - my opinion only).

However..by happy accident, the design of the Orsimer light armor has what can be made into a "boob window" by matching the color on that section to the skin tone of one of my characters. Hilarious in a weird way.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

Another issue I have is that even when we get a full chestplate style it tends to be overly designed.

I like over the top fantasy stuff as much as the next person but sometimes you want to change things up with a sleek and simplistic looking chestplate.

Unfortunately we don't have many options in that regard. Like, I wish we had something like the Soul Shriven heavy chestpiece (except for looking like rusted garbage of course). No ornamentation, no weird ridges. Just plain, sleek looking chestplate.

I don't mind bare abdomens so much but the peekaboo windows in the chest of some costumes just looks cheap to me.

But if we can have bare abdomens why can't we have bare shoulders? And what good are ugly saddlebags on our hips, especially on light armor?

If they were really making more revealing armor based on player feedback they would have let us hide shoulders and tassets long ago.

The armor to which you are referring was part of the Blackwood/Deadlands content of last year.
One chapter and its related DLCs.

None of Greymoor's armor styles were "revealing" in nature.

And already we can see that the armor styles associated with the High Isle/Breton content are not going to follow this pattern.
    (Dreadsails is one example).

So this is not happening with "most new styles." It was a style associated with one chapter.

I (OP) wasn't talking specifically about the revealing styles, which I find great to add variety and show tattoos/skin.

I was refering to styles like the Hazardous Alchemy Cuirass, for example. Why add that silly plate to the chest when the rest of the piece doesn't have metal?

There's a ton of styles like this.

It IS a bit confusing that you're not just talking about revealing outfits, when your title for this thread is "heavy armor 'bras'" lol I would change that to something that is more closer to your point.

Although for this point that you mentioned, my argument isnt really any different. Hazardous Alchemy is more mage robes (aka mad alchemist vibe style) so isnt really for full plate armor. Imo the "heavy" style is merely mage robes with a bit extra protection. I mean you got what I assume to be probably flammable vials strapped to your chest. The enemy probably isnt going to be caring about trying to hit you in the cloth bits when you have who knows what potions (or poisons) literally waiting to explode or splash you in the face if they hit those. To me the Hazardous alchemy by no means is supposed to protect you from a full on blade fight. It's more mage combat. Stay the *** away. Try not to get hit. If you do, maybe the bare minimum of armor you have for mobility reasons can keep you alive, or your spells will hopefully also do the trick in protecting you.

There are tons of full plate styles in the game in the heavy section. Just like you find a ton of robe or shirt like styles in the light section, and leather in the medium section. However, some plate, cloth, leather appearances carry on through the heavy, light, medium outfit sections because of the type of style they are. Redoran for example in all three clothing types, seems to always have huge chitinous armor across the whole torso even if it is light armor. Because Redoran is a warrior House and thus they emulated that by having that heavy looking style of armor on the chest through all three of its different styles.
