Anyone know if there is way to know if better or worse temper yield from refining raw materials?

I know they have changed the yield of gold tempers from refining raw materials at least a few times in the past.

Does anyone know if there is a way to determine what this yield rate is right now? Or whether or not the yield percentage is going up or down? As in, is there someone somewhere who keeps track of this rate so we know if there is a better or worse time to refine our stacks of raw materials?

I have excessive raw materials after the holiday event. I'm just trying to determine if I should wait until after High Isle release because the yield rate might be better, or should I just refine my stacks of 10-15k raw materials now because the rate doesn't change much over time or with new content releases.

Thanks for any help or info.

Generally I get 1 gold temper to approximately 200 raw.

RNG is a at work here, so while that’s the average (give or take) you might easily find no gold tempers from 200 raw one day, and 3 the next.

As far as I’m concerned that drop rate has been pretty static for years.

I also average 1 gold-mat per 200 raw mats (without CP buff). But that's over a very large number of raw mats processed. Sometimes the drop rate seems higher (like when I get 5 per 100!), sometimes lower (like when I get 0 per 700), but it always seems to average 1-in-200 over many tens of thousands of raw mats.

There is a myth that you can get higher drop-rates if you process your raw mats in small batches (instead of large batches). This has not been my experience. I once had over 60 thousand raw mats to process. I processed 30 thousand raw mats in large batches . . . and 30 thousand raw mats in batches of 100 each. Both methods averaged 1 gold-mat per 200 raw mats.

You may use Champion Points in "Meticulous Disassembly" (at 50 and slotted) to improve the drop rate by a fraction. I have not processed large enough samples with and without the CP buff to be certain how much the drop rate is increased. This CP passive may raise the drop rate from 0.5 percent to maybe 0.55 percent? If so, that would raise the drop rate to about 1 gold mat for 182 raw mats?

I processed some raw mats playing "High Isle" (v8.0.0) on test server (PTS). My sample size (about 5000 raw mats) was much too small to estimate drop rate accurately. I got roughly 1 gold mat per 250 raw mats (with "Meticulous Disassembly" slotted). So, I would guess drop rate is going to be the same before and after "High Isle" goes "live."

OP unless there's any sort of note in any given round of patch notes, there's no reason to expect drop rates from refining to be changed either way. You're better off just refining what you have now instead of waiting.

Folks over on the Crafting forum keep track of this type stuff. Here is a link to a thread that is on there at this moment that should give you a good idea of refining rates:

There is also a link to @tmbrinks spread sheet where they have some long term refining statistics.

    Awesome! Thank you.

I figured someone out there was keeping track, I just didn't know who or where to find the info.

    Thanks.
