When will we begin seeing the "weekend PVP events"?

As mentioned in the January PVP update post, there is not going to be any new PVP content this year, whatsoever. Additionally it has now been years since the last pvp content was added to the game, in the form of just a few BG maps.

The january PVP update attempts to excuse the aforementioned lack of content with "weekend PVP events" or "special rulesets" that we have yet to see, 3 months out now. Is there any update or ETA on when these might be happening? Would be great to have a reason to log on to the game as a PVP player.

I hope we don't get special rulesets, or if we do make it just one campaign.

I wouldn't expect to see any weekend PvP stuff while other events are going on, and so far this year we've had so many other events that there probably hasn't really been enough opportunities to do any weekend PvP stuff.

But judging by the fact that the first two fragments of the event mount are available during the current event, presumably they are planning to have a bit of a break between the current event and the next one, so who knows what upcoming weekends might bring?

Since update 33 performance in Cyro is even worse. I've limited the time I'm spending there drastically. If there would be regular events based on the current poor form, I'd probably stop checking out Cyrodiil altogether, and to a greater extent play even less.

My guild has always had 2 days a week for a PVP group, but they used to be out their daily. Don't even see some of them login anymore except for those 2 days, and they quit early half the time due to it being unplayable. It is a pretty sad situation really. If you are going to leave something in your game, make sure it works, otherwise just get rid of it and deal with the fallout and stop stringing folks along, it is a <censored> move.

I’ve tried Cyro a few times in the past weeks and it’s horrible with abilities not triggering, extreme lag etc to the point where despite wanting to PVP I’m not. I hope the performance gets addressed but I’m not optimistic

    Special rulesets? Already introduced!

    1. The Emperor will lose the buffs if they don't play until they pass out or get a disconnect.
    2. Depending on your astrological sign, Dragonleap may be disabled.
    3. Players can bypass walls to get into keeps or into inner keeps from the keep outer wall.
    4. Secret Combat! Sometimes you think the fight is over, but your mount disagrees to your chagrin. Animals can smell the enemy you can't see. Automatons of course use a sensor that picks up airflow disturbances.

You know.. I completely forgot about this until I saw this thread lol

Ah, a potentially new way pvp can disappoint me! The gameplay has been so horrendous as of late I don't go into Cyrodiil nearly as much as I used to. Can't imagine how much worse it'll get if they implement this (though I guess it depends on what they'd be implementing in the first place.)

I had the worst experience I've ever had just yesterday fighting on scroll. I thought my router died but it was just the game failing to register anything and everything. :# Definitely put me off.

As far as I'm concerned, this is all the more reason to start hosting these events. Gray host is fully unplayable. Black reach is empty all day, playable for two or three hours when there is low-medium population between like 6pm and 8pm eastern, then unplayable once there is actual population after 8pm. Ravenwatch is empty all the time apart from like 2 hours each evening from like 9pm till 11pm where there is a small amount of pop, but that pop usually consists of 12 man groups/guilds doing purely objective focused play.

There is just no reason for people to go into cyrodiil for actual PVP COMBAT because the windows of overlap for population/performance are so small now that they are inaccessible for most people. A simple 3 day event once or twice a month (friday 10am - monday 10am) where they add two campaigns and double ap/reward boxes(1 no proc/1proc campaign) would create opportunities where the additonal campaigns see enough population for decent PVP action, but not so much that they lag out from high population. This is how it has been every event for the past few years while the performance has been nearly unbearable. They could even make the leaderboards for these campaigns just 3 days with a full value reward at the end, so that players can earn a 50-transmute geode per character.

They don't even necessarily need to be cyrodiil events either; imperial city events are often preferable for people who enjoy pvp combat, because imperial city rarely lags in the way that cyrodiil does. They can do double AP in IC, double telvar/key frags (which should garner even more interest now that there are new rewards for each of those). They can even do things like make anniversary style boxes drop from the top and sewer bosses, increase the rewards and number of troves scamps in the sewer, etc.

It would take such little effort for them to just give us these little events, and the remaining pvp community would appreciate it so much. That is the thing about anyone still playing pvp in 2022; we've been given so little for so long, that just small incentives or rewards would go a long way to keeping us around through the remainder of this year as zenimax supposedly attempts to fix the game.

Every single DLC for this game has given you PVE content. And yet the fact that the devs are 100% focused on PVE and the only PVP content they are are willing to produce are limited time events is still not enough for some PVE-only types to feel like their needs are being met.

I predict we'll have one weekend PVP event this year, it will never be mentioned again, and ZOS will call that a promise fulfilled.

Unfortunately, most of us diehard PvP players have stopped playing PvP because of the performance issues. I was a hold out until recently and a PvP player since day 1.

Plus, since all of our toons are now former emps, there is no purpose to play to get a toon that title.

Being as you spend most of your time now in Cyrodiil stuck, logging back in, or queueing back in, a double AP buff would probably just get AP/hr back to normal levels.

To be honest, the only way a PvP event could get me to log in is if it revolved around Imperial City only. Cyrodiil is hopeless this patch, it starts lagging well before it becomes pop locked. Blackreach was lagging really badly with 2 population bars across the board. On top of that, hybridization and PvP don’t mix well at all. I would say this is the worst PvP patch I’ve seen in a while, and that’s saying something.

Every DLC for years and the majority of events for the year including week long surprise PvE events isn't enough?

I genuinely don't get this mentality where whenever there's a PvP thread, PvE players find it necessary to come in and be all "what about PvE?" PvP players should be able to talk about their part of the game - and yes, in General - without stumbling over "okay but PvE" comments, especially when the game and all the DLC/expansion content in the last five years IS about PvE.

PvP players getting something does not need to be contingent on PvE players getting even more of something, because PvE is rewarded with things all year long. If you think there should be weekend PvE events too, that's fine! But it's really easy to make your own thread instead of trying to co-opt this one.

If you go back and read the statement made you will see they used the phrase "we are considering.....".

They did not make any kind of commitment to doing anything other than releasing a statement to tone down the "we're working on it" fiasco. It was a statement made in an effort at damage control.

I'm sure they considered it. And I know a lot of people consider trying skydiving too. But how many people actually get in the plane and jump out?

These types of comments are generally just trolls looking for a reaction, better to just ignore them. Pvp threads often get locked due to the back and forth that happens with people who clearly have no worthwhile discussion to offer whatsoever.

I would like to see one district in Imperial City go back to before we had flags in the district. Could be for a week or just a weekend. Imperial City battles were epic before flags. All three factions had quick easy access back into the fight if they died so there were some really large and sustained battles.
With flags the faction with the flag gains an advantage as the other two factions have no easy way back after a death. So the one faction controlling the flag quickly gains a numbers advantage the other factions can't overcome. If all three factions could instead respawn on their respective balconies in that one district I think the large battles would return. If it were for a weekend they could do every other weekend and rotate districts.

It was a blast. We introduced a lot of guild mates to PvP in those fights. Was fun to watch them as they got more comfortable with PvP. The quick respawn meant dying didn't really matter and dying is what puts most off PvP. They would start by hanging back behind the group trying to get a shot in from time to time and eventually would be right up front in the middle of things.

it is a shame that pvp gets so little new content but i think the reality is they could make a really good new pvp game mode or zone or something and it's really well designed with a tonne of thought and time put into it but in the end only a small fraction of the playerbase will actually play it

it's not even really a case of whether or not it would be a profitable venture for the team, but rather it just makes more sense for them to have the highest guarantee that the largest amount of players will check out the new stuff they've made - which, that content will inevitably be pve zones and features intended for players who like playing through those zones

pvp content is just so niche in the grand scheme of things
