At this point, I'm not even surprised... not even a little bit. They only waited for two whole days before deciding to demolish yet another event lol

    What are you on about?

This is the usual scheduled maintenance.

I was naively hoping that they might postpone breaking the game again until after the event.

This is standard maintenance, it's not to fix anything. They've never delayed regular maintenance that I can remember. Generally the standard maintenance doesn't break things, it's the maintenance when they need to fix things or major updates/patches that do that.
    Character List [RP and PvE]:
Stands-Against-Death: Argonian Magplar Healer - Crafter
Krisiel: Redguard Stamsorc DPS - Literally crazy Werewolf, no like legit insane. She nuts
Kiju Veran: Khajiit Stamblade DPS - Ex-Fighters Guild Suthay who likes to punch things, nicknamed Tinykat
Niralae Elsinal: Altmer Stamsorc DPS - Young Altmer with way too much Magicka
Sarah Lacroix: Breton Magsorc DPS - Fledgling Vampire who drinks too much water
Slondor: Nord Tankblade - TESified verson of Slenderman
Marius Vastino: Imperial <insert role here> - Sarah's apathetic sire who likes to monologue
Delthor Rellenar: Dunmer Magknight DPS - Sarah's ex who's a certified psychopath
Lirawyn Calatare: Altmer Magplar Healer - Traveling performer and bard who's 101% vanilla bean
Gondryn Beldeau: Breton Tankplar - Sarah's Mages Guild mentor and certified badass old person
Gwendolyn Jenelle: Breton Magplar Healer - Friendly healer with a coffee addiction
Soliril Larethian- Altmer Magblade DPS - Blind alchemist who uses animals to see and brews plagues in his spare time
Tevril Rallenar: Dunmer Stamcro DPS - Delthor's "special" younger brother who raises small animals as friends
Celeroth Calatare: Bosmer <insert role here> - Shapeshifting Bosmer with enough sass to fill Valenwood

    PC - NA - EP - CP1000+

Its sad that they are not able to fix things during maintenance, and if they try it only seems to make it worse.

Nope, this isn't just maintenance; it's patch maintenance, which means they are [making an attempt at] fixing something, and there will be patch notes.

They used to do this every week, early in the week for PC (and usually mid-week for consoles), until Stadia came along, and they started doing it every other week, to accommodate the approval process for Stadia.

But, of course, things always get crazy for awhile around content releases, which is what we've been experiencing since U33.
Extra maintenance is just something anyone who plays video games has to deal with, occasionally; that's never going to change, regardless of the game or company. Complaining about it isn't going to change anything. Maintenance gets done when it needs to be done.

Yes, I have been wondering what we will get on consoles. Not complaining, just curious.

Hopefully they won’t forget to fix Night Silence for us since they already did it for PC.

      What else is in there?

      Dark Elf Magsorc
      Redguard Stamina Dragonknight
      Orc Stamplar PVP
      Breton Magsorc PVP
      Dark Elf Magden
      Khajiit Stamblade
      Khajiit Stamina Arcanist

A 5 hour patch is huge. There must be something significant going on to warrant that much downtime...

Are they finally going to fix (or even acknowledge) the fps drops that's forcing a bunch of us to play on dual core CPUs with hyperthreading disabled?

Yes... Typos in some background dialogues and mudcrab animations.

Uh, I think most patch maintenances are 6 hours, aren't they-- 4 AM to 10 AM Eastern Time? So 5 hours is shorter, not longer.

True. Maintenance typically isn't meant to actually fix anything. :D Gotta give those hamsters a rest once in a while...

No, No, No, they do none of that stuff. They simply reboot the servers and let the hamsters sleep for 6 hours, maybe a little bit longer if they forget to wake them up (aka extended maint).

Their Alchemy Crafting Writs "fix" broke picking up a the alchemy writ quest before crafting writ reset time, and doing it after that time (if that makes sense). That is, if I'm short on time, I'll pick up crafting writs before 11pm my time, and then do them after 11pm. Then I pick up the new crafting writs. I can still pick up all of the new crafting writs, except alchemy.

That was one of the fixes!

Along with an alchemy daily bug that I didn't realize existed...even though it happened to me. (When it happened to me, I just assumed LazyWritCrafter somehow missed a quest.)
