Purple(epic) bow with soothing trait vs blue(superior) bow with aggressive trait? Basically, 100 weapon damage vs 2.2% overall damage?

I believe the quickened trait is best in most cases but not sure never used companions outside of white gears.

Quickened on Mirri with the light armor skill and the ulti gain ability will most likely give "you" the most dps with a "companion".

OP is asking if going purple with a no damage trait or using blue with a damage trait is better. Sorry, not sure, but gonna guess not a big diff between the two until you can get (or buy) purple with aggressive.

I only use the following traits:

DPS - Aggressive (Increases damage done by x%)
Tank - Bolstered (Reduces damage taken by x%)
Healer - Soothing (Increases healing done by x%)

Your bow may be purple but the trait is "wrong" for a dps build: soothing is an advisable trait for a healing companion build.
Better use the green bow that has the "right" trait.

You asked the question wrong, you should have left out the bit about the actual weapons since now everyone is just going to say soothing is the wrong trait. You should have just asked:

What is better on a companion, 100 weapon damage or 2.2% overall damage?

To which the answer is it probably depends on other factors, like what is your companions base damage?

As always it depends a lot on what you're building for.

If your basic attacks are doing 4500+ dmg then they will get more from blue aggressive's extra 2.2% - if you are stacking aggressive/shattering, wearing medium armor, or debuffing enemy resistances, or applying any buff (major courage/major britality/powerful assault) you will likely be above this threshold. Less than this and you would get more base damage from the purple bow. Obviously aggressive is only good if most your abilities are for damage, as heals and utility skills won't get buffed.

If your build is mainly using heals then you'd still want soothing regardless (I used to run a bow Mirri "ultimate survivor" build with her class vanish, the medium armor vanish, her class HoT, the Mages guild HoT and the paralel ability for more ulti - with mostly prolific gear, so she really just popped into the fight to heal and use her ultimate without needing to be looked after!).
