It's not normal, i always get high level items. The level of materials is directly tied to the level of skilled passive in each profession.

Then the RNG likes you. My master crafter regularly gets things like Calcinium Ingots when she does Blacksmithing writs, and Electrum Ingots along with the Platinum when she does Jewelry, etc.
This. It's been this way for a while now, a couple of years at this point I believe? I have a terrible memory and can't recall when they made this change, but you always get mats at your actual crafting level and then a smaller number for lower levels. Is it safe to assume you had the loot window thing turned off, the one that lists your loot as you get it in the bottom corner of the screen? If that's the case and you also had ESO+, then that would make sense that you never really noticed what mats you were getting before (or heck, even with that loot list thing turned on, it's not exactly large and easily noticable, so things could still be overlooked).kringled_1 wrote: »Iridium grains is perfectly within the normal range of what comes directly from a jewelry writ.
The crate of materials will be 2 piles, one at your crafting level, one at a randomly selected level below your crafting level. What I'm getting hasnt particularly changed.

This! For the past (almost) two years I have done all 7 crafting dailies on 18 characters, and everything seems to be as usual.PeacefulAnarchy wrote: »You always get two stacks, unless you get a survey. One stack of max level and one at a random lower level.
As for the mixed level of resources being dropped. I don't really get it. The aim of creating a crafter is to get him/her to max level and you then need max level resources for daily writ creation.
I don't craft lower level gear and only do so on my main character for 'training builds' which is once every year/two or so

Many people with a "main" crafter will either be making gear for their lower-level alts, or will sell their crafting services to other players. Which means needing materials from lower tiers, that they can no longer harvest themselves due to their level & crafting tier being maxed out.
So ZOS added lower-level materials to the writ rewards a couple years ago, so that high-level crafters would have a source for them.
