USE CAMERA - people have horrible orientation in combat, they think that like in PVE, nobody will attack them from flank or behind. Thats a mistake.

Ur enemy is NONSTOP moving - the more skilled he is, the more movement he will involve.

U need to make a habit of lookin around/behind, screeing territory.

    - Getting killed in PVP isn't a personal attack on you
    - If it is marked Red/Yellow/Blue on the map, you will be killed by the opposing faction, regardless of if you are just questing
    - If you are squishy, wait to walk through doors, or even just hop off the wall instead of using a door
    - There is always a bomber, every flag, every door, everywhere, always a bomber, even when you think you cleared them
    - Wait five to ten seconds before looting molag ball in the sewers
    - Bring siege everywhere, and unless you are actively killing/harassing the defenders on the wall or the attackers on the ground, use that siege.

To add to that, if you are at a flag with a ton of players, just move away from the flag. No need to be stacked on it at all after a certain number of players.

I'll preface by saying these tips are for the PVE crowd.

For tickets, scouting missions. After completing the report, die to a guard for a quick trip back to base.

For AP, find a zerg and stay with it. You may get lucky and get some kills.

Stay out of the normal campaigns, use the added ones for quicker queues.

    - there is more than 1 cyro campaign. Login to each until you find a village for your daily with the colour of your faction.

    - there also is a "neutral" village, chorrol in the west (use google to find a map). Gankers usually focus on the other villages.

    - east of chorrol also is an abbey with a daily quest, good to avoid gankers.

    - in imperial city, climb up the ladder to the Arena district and shoot daedra from the platform to finish your daily

    - in case you lleave the platform, don't return to base by the sewers. Instead, join cyro campaign, then IC again

    1. If you have no interest in PvP but plan to take part in this event please consider a dead campaign.
    2. If you have no interest in PvP complete daily quests in IC, bg, & Cyrodiil dead campaign prior to event, and wait to turn in quests daily throughout event.
    3. If you're new to PvP please have at least 28k health Unbuffed, otherwise you're a walking TnT stick ready to blow.
    4. don't cleanse or use a cleanse synergy if new to PvP.

For PvEers that want to avoid PvP.

If you want to get in and out for tickets. Do not go into the main servers for this. They are where everyone and their mother is headed for PvP. PvPers will greatly appreciate this and itll help you to avoid a higher chance of being ganked for your trouble.

The map is full of dailies if you know where to look for them. Bruma, Cropsford and Vlastarus are capturable points on the map so they are easy enough to locate. But there is also Cheydinhal located SW of the EP gates, and Chorrol and Wynon Priory located SE of the DC gates.

Cheydinhal is the best place to spam Cyro dailies. It's southeast of Arrius Keep in EP territory. Half the quests are inside the city and are very quick. Since it's outside of the transitus network, it is mostly peaceful, especially in off campaigns.

One of the best places to do dailies during the Anniversary event, as well.

No, die often. That means you are immersed in the PvP and will get better.

Remember this isn't going to be typical PvP. The players camping sites to jump unsuspecting people wanting to do quests are not the regular PvP crowd.

PvP is much more fun than this event will suggest.

    Don't die.

    In all seriousness:

-Have at least 30-33k health unbuffed. Especially if you're in a CP campaign. If you die you'll blow everyone else up.

-In a CP campaign if you're squishy, stay away from large groups or you'll get everyone blown up

-If you're in a CP campaign, don't purge, you'll blow yourself and everyone up. That includes netch, ritual and especially curse eater.

    - Group up. Even the best groups and players can be overwhelmed by sheer numbers.

-Guilds often recruit around this time. Join one and run with people who know what they're doing

    - If a group runs into a tower don't chase them. In facto don't engage any organized groups at all (unless you have fun banging your head against a wall, which I admittedly do).

-Play offline to avoid verbal toxicity from other players.

-Tabtarget is a free in-game wall hack that highlights a priority enemy. As long as that person remains close by and does not go into stealth, the white highlight on then will remain (useful against tower runners and rock humpers).

-Invisibility pots with some major expedition sprinkled in is quite nice for emergency dipping (Blessed Thistle + Blue Entoloma + Namira's Rot).

-Slot some invisibility counters like detect potions, magelight, hunter, flare, etc.

-If you are willing to be a stage 4 vamp, can practically stay in invisibility forever by just running for 3 seconds. (Can run an entire district in Imperial City while in invis). Just need to restore stamina after a while.

-Stage 1 vamps have normal movement speed while hidden, which can be useful for getting around a hostile area without true invisibility.

-Slot a knockback/stun skill and ensure it is constantly used on an opponent who is currently not immune to them (watch the feet).

-Make sure you wear enough impenetrable traited gear. 2k+ crit resistances

-If you're not going for a glass cannon ganker playstyle, then at minimum 20k+ resistance for both types. Even with that much you can still be brought to zero by an unexpected combo.

-Make sure you have a decent anount of health. Closer to the 30k range. Any less than 25k and things that could've been survivable won't be.

    -Slot healing skills.

-Avoid being in a ball of random players (vicious death, etc.)

-Can select a Cyrodiil campaign to leave the Imperial City and vice versa. This can be done while hidden.

-If in IC, entering a different area triggers a passive field that will prevent attacks from others. The field is not permanent if you use the middle doors connecting the districts in IC.

-Tel var can be put in the bank at any banker (banker located before the ladder room of your base). 1k telvar gives a decent 3x buff to telvar gain. Ideally bank any tel var gain you aren't willing to lose as soon as you are able.

    • Parse Food for PvE:(DPS) Ghastly Eye Bowl (increases Max Magicka by 4592 and Magicka Recovery by 459 for 2 hours).
    • Gold/Purple Food for Sorc PvP and Meme Tanking:(PvP) Clockwork Citrus Filet (increases Max Health by 3326, Health Recovery by 406 [useful if stage 1 vampire], Max Magicka by 3080, and Magicka Recovery by 338 for 2 hours). Witchmother's Potent Brew (Increase Max Magicka by 2856, Max Health by 3094, and Magicka Recovery by 315 for 2 hours.
    • Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
    • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar/arcanist will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

    1) Just Try It, You Might Like It. Especially if you'd love to get some of the fashion goodies it's worth a shot!

    2) You will die. Sometimes it'll be unfairly, sometimes you were stupid, sometimes you'll get zerg ambushed, sometimes it was just lag or random load screens and sometimes you were outplayed so hard you just deserved it. Learn to laugh about it, otherwise you'll have a bad time in pvp. Even the best pvper dies.

Source for the above statement: some years back when you could earn the Star-Made Knight title, the first title I wanted for my main char. I, who plays PvP only once a blue moon, killed an emperor by accident by charging him and he died from whatever I did in my already unconventional tank build that was retrofitted for the occasion with a mangled mess of whatever I could quickly find in stores that had crit resistance on it, since I wanted to give it a try. Naturally I died right after that, but the glory was eternally mine. :D

So yeah you will die, and if you're just starting out it will probably be often, but others will die as well! Most importantly imo is to just have a positive mindset about it.

-The lag and desyncing you've been starting to experience in PvE is 10x worse in PvP areas, so just be aware of that. Skills not firing, bars not swapping, or being hit seemingly out of nowhere is part of the territory at times. Hopefully performance will be better during the event.

-As other's have said it's ok to die. It's just part of the experience and everyone dies at some point. If you're going to die, go out guns blazing.

    -30k+ health is standard.

-I would also recommend that inexperienced players run sets such as Mark of the Pariah, or Buffer of the Swift for some extra armor.

-Healing is powerful, so make sure you have a couple of good self heals slotted.

-Don't chase people running around objects, or in towers. They are built to do that all day and can kill you in one combo if you become complacent.

-Keep your buffs up, and make sure you go into fights with full health.

-Numbers are an advantage, so if you see a group running around, your best bet is to join them. That way you can also get more of an understanding of your surroundings without the pressure of being a lone target, and it's also a good way to see how other's engage in combat.

-Don't be afraid of interacting with PvP players. I swear not all of us are toxic! Many players will be more than willing to help you and give you tips if you need.

-Don't take it seriously, just have fun.

    - If attacked, don't be afraid to die.
    - Fight back, and you might be surprised at the outcome.
    - Don't let other players ruin your fun; keep having fun even if you're dying over and over.
    - Laughing about it can help you keep an upbeat attitude.
    - Don't rage against the lag; lean into it and learn how to play around it, such as making your keystrokes or button presses and then waiting for them to fire off, like rapidly typing a sentence into a keystroke buffer and then sitting back and watching your sentence appearing on the screen.

Just give in and give zos what they want and buy your event tickets from the crown store...

With that piece of advice out if the way. Go grab a pvp quest from the various spots before the event and get them ready for turn in.

If you don't like combat so much research pvp tanky builds, speed builds, or Stealth builds. You won't avoid combat 100% of the time but it will help.

Go in know you will die and that you will b3 killed completing your dailies.

Don't go in with the intent to farm tel var.

Tel var doesn't exist until you make it out of imperial city

    Lots of really good tips.

Mine is please respect the regulars in the static campaigns. There will be things happening with the map and scoring that you won't understand yet if you're new.

People will help where they can. If they don't it's not because because they're toxic pvpers refusing to help, it's because your request was poorly timed or unreasonable. You'll learn.

Didn't read the entire thread, but just in case it hasn't been said...

    - Don't choose Greyhost or Ravenwatch as your campaign if you are just in it for the event.

They are the most popular campaigns and you will spent most of your game time waiting in queue to login, nevermind getting killed constantly by people who live to PVP.

Look at the map and go and be in the middle of whatever is happening, that is the way to get AP.

Also, buy siege and use it. It is the best way to get lots of AP.

You can get 2 levels of Assault and Support just by doing the siege training quest.

    - Try building without gap closers on your rotation because they still are unreliable

You can get your event tickets without doing much PVPing. PVP zones in this game have many PVE objectives, but you will always be in a PVP environment when doing those types of quests and you might end up in PVP combat at any moment.

For Imperial City dailies, you can complete their objective beforehand and then just turn in one quest per day in the Sewers for the daily ticket (so you would want some free spots in your quest log, as well as maybe completing the objectives without handing the quests in on numerous of your characters). That way you can avoid much of the PVP combat that happens during the event.
For the Cyrodiil daily ticket, you can accept Scouting missions in your alliance base, these are often simple enough that you can complete them within a couple of minutes if your mount is decently trained.

Actually, you can get all of your event tickets through PvE activities; they just take place in PvP zones, so you'll be at risk of being attacked by other players, but you don't need to deliberately engage in any PvP.
I've fought mudcrabs more fearsome than me!
