Does blocking with an Ice Staff(with the magicka use passive) stop magcika regen and still allows stamina to regen? Or does it still stop stamina regen? If it does stop magicka regen, does anyone use or think it would be worth using the torc of consistancy? In theory running s/b on one bar and Ice Staff on the other and flip/flopping the block bar and gaining the regen boosts...or would Engine Guardian still be better for sustain...thanks.

Yes, it stops Magicka regeneration and allows stamina regeneration. Blocking halts the resource being used to block with from regenerating while leaving the other alone.

Its stops magicka regen only with the passive.

In my opinion Torc of Tonal Constancy isnt that good for the tanks. But if u want use bot resources for blocking then it can work i guess. The thing is healing usually costs magicka so u dont want to have it too low all the time.

Engine Guardian is good as long as you are lucky. If you are unlucky u can get 3x healing in a row when u dont need that.

thanks for the feedback...yeah, but with engine guardian, with spell symmetry even 3x healing is good just convert it to magicka

with ice staff equipped, it reverses the block rules

normal blocking is stamina and disables stam recov
ice staff blocking is magicka and disables magicka recov

there are certain things which can still grant stamina even while blocking (such as wardens netch, necro tether, and templar rune), granted most of these sources are pretty small but they usually equate to about 240 recov, and at least the netch and rune have magicka options to support either tank build (i think the necro uses a different tether to get magicka back)

one of the best ways to sustain blocking is reducing your block cost as much as possible (as block can be triggered up to 4x per second) to pair with the other methods of sustain

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

feel free to stop by and use the facilities

I do not use the Torc, or any mythics/arena sets on my tanks. I do have a friend that runs it with Death Dealer. I could see Bloodlord working for you for ice staff blocking. But I prefer two full 5-piece sets with a full monster set.

I haven't run into any sustain issues, especially with blocking. Normally I only block heavy attacks I can't evade or ones where the mechanic requires the block. You could be overcasting skills or blocking too much. With a decent build you shouldn't have to permablock

Engine Guardian is a good source of sustain. However, you might want to look into Drake's Rush. With the increase in ultimate generation, you will be able to use Warhorn more, helping the group and refilling your resources. Or go with Saxheel for more resources in magicka and stamina. Finally, although its been nerfed, Crimson still has a strong damage-based heal or go with Leeching Plate
