Crashes to desktop since v7.2.7 - PC NA

I have had multiple crashes to desktop since logging in this morning after the patch.

First time was on the character select screen, no crash report, just dropped to desktop. This was after logging out of a previous character (horse training)
Second, after selecting a character and waiting on a dungeon queue, was not doing anything at the time. Again, dropped to the desktop, no error. In-game for around 5 minutes
Third time, logged in a character, crashed less than a minute. Got an ESO crash report, which I submitted.
Fourth time, logged in a character, ESO froze, dropped to desktop after about45 seconds. Happened within seconds of loading into character.

This is repeatable. Happens when logging into character and doing nothing. Happens if I don't login to a character at all - just sitting on the character select screen will eventually crash to desktop. Always happening within 5 minutes.

Note that other than the one time I got a crash report, this is normally just dropping me to the desktop without any error.

Game has been completely solid before v7.2.7 patch, no crashes in weeks.

*Update*

This may be add-on related (which surprises me since it can happen on the character select screen - did not know add-ons loaded at that point). I think I narrowed it down to one, after disabling it I have not had a crash since.

I've been having the same thing happen since I patched the game. Which add-on do you suspect?

So, first I will say that I hate implicating any add-ons because I am not sure. I will say that by trial-and-error there could still be something going on. But it seemed to me to be add-ons that are associated with champion points (I was using Caros Champion Point Saver), and / or add-ons associated with companions (Improved Companion Rapport).

I got to these (and a few others that I don't feel are related over several hours of trial-and-error. But I will say that I added both of these back in and it was stable for quite a while (but was back to crashing within 5 minutes this evening).

I have several (including those 2) currently disabled and have been in-game for a couple of hours now.

When it is happening, it can be hard to even enable/disable on the character selection screen / menu - I would literally have it crash before I could disable mods sometimes.

I have never seen anything this bad in the 3 years I have been playing though. I have probably crashed more today than in the last year of playing.

Re-installing your add-ons may help resolve your issue with crashing.

To completely remove add-ons from The Elder Scrolls Online:

    PC:
    1. Go to the "Elder Scrolls Online" folder in My Documents.
    2. Open the "live" folder (NA megaserver) or "liveeu" (EU megaserver).
    3. Remove all files from the "AddOns" folder.
    4. Remove all files from the "SavedVariables" folder.
    5. Remove AddOnSettings.txt from the "live" folder.

@pazrael0321 do you still have this problem?

For some weeks the game kicked me to Desktop on my first Log in of the day.

I type my PW, see my charakters and desktop....

i experienced this delightful feature this morning.

the random disconnects have continued throughout the day thus far, too.

Yes, I still am experiencing this problem. I am not confident anymore that it is related to specific addons (or even addons at all).

When it happens, it happens several times. Eventually, I will get in and it is solid. This seems to be independent of the addons I am running or not running.

It is also independent of what I am doing in the game. As mentioned, I have had it happen on the character select screen before even selecting a character. I have had it while doing crafting writs, while running a dungeon, and while just standing around idle.

Once I find a time I run that is "stable" - i.e. it runs for more than 10 minutes or so without crashing, I try to stay logged in the rest of the day.

For me this strictly started once the servers were back up from v7.2.7.

I should also add that this is not ping / internet related. I am getting application crash reports in Event Viewer each time. It has only asked me one time to send them to ZOS.

Other things I have tried - updated my NVidia driver to the latest (was one version back), disabled the multithreaded rendering (that was added a couple of client releases back). Neither had any effect on behavior.

I succeded! I uninstalled all addons and installed one by one. There was only one so far who created this problem: Alpha gear; I replaced that and everything oke so far!

    same, it's not addons, either.

this is not an addon issue! the CDs happen BEFORE any addon was loaded.

directly in the lobby or within the first phase of loading a char.

Same - hanging after logon and then it crashes before even to character select.
Removed all addons (not happy about that solution - oh wait it wasn't a solution - still happening)
Now it is back to every time I logon I have to go through all agreements and settings and still it is crashing before character select happens.
    Was working fine yesterday. (13Dec21)

I found a temporary solution to the crashing and that is running the game with admin rights. The crashing is still there but it is much less frequent now. Can you guys try and see if that is working for you?

That got me past the initial load screen failure so I could see character selection - so thanks for that tip!
I was in for less than a minute and it did crash out again, but again farther than where I had been before.
