About the "instant" mail from Guild Traders after purchase

This is what I'm seeing:



I have no mail in my inboxes, but I still have to zone change to get the trader mail to be available. This is happening on both PC megaservers, on both my accounts. Now, it's possible this is due to my satellite lag of course. Is anyone else seeing this?

This is also happening to me on gigabit connection and 80ish ingame ping.

So far I haven't noticed any difference in how mail works.

Before the update I would occasionally get mail without having to change zones, but it was very rare. It seems about as likely now.

I had this at the guild traders today. Immediate mail notification sound whenever I bought something, but no actual mail. I had to zone to get my purchases to show up in mail.

Edit: my mail box was empty before I bought anything from the guild traders.

@Sylvermynx I think it might just be because your inbox is full, no? This happened to me yesterday and at first I couldn’t even select any old mails to delete and I worried what I’d purchased was going to be lost or something. Gradually more of them became deletable and why some I could delete before others I do not know. Nothing was lost though, so no real harm. Still, I preferred how mail worked after the last patch — it was noticeably faster but without these other oddities of whether the mail is actually there, can be accessed, can be deleted, etc. And of course the reply function was much appreciated!

Also @Sylvermynx, love your character! Is she an Imperial?

Seems like another case of talking the talk, but then hiding, as you do get a mail notice, just no mail;
like all the server proformance comments over the years!

My inbox had no system mail and 3 player mail in it and I wasn't getting new mail instantly, I had to change zones or log out and back in, just like before the update.

Not sure what is causing the difference. Sometimes it's instant. Other times I have to logout to the character screen or /reloadui for it to come through.

It was working for me, have not checked this morning.

I was pleasantly surprised yesterday to purchase from the guild trader and see them pop up in the mail box immediately.

In a sense ... the mail notice is a step in the right direction?

Now we just need the attachments to move at the speed of sound.

I've noticed that my mailbox is always empty for a few seconds or so after I start playing or right after I zone. I know when I was already wandering around the mail showed up instantly, but when I went to a zone and then bee-lined to a guild trader to get something, then my entire mailbox hadn't loaded in yet.

I don't know if this is a problem with the guild mails. It's probably more likely a problem with the mailbox needing to catch up to the character, but it's fixed within less than a minute or so.

I will say that getting the mail notification surprised me when I went and bought something yesterday since I wasn't expecting it to happen that fast. That was kinda funny.

All day yesterday, after launch, I have been receiving instant mails. Gorgeous feeling really, when you experience that. Good job ZOS! Now it is time to iron out small problems related to it I guess.

Well it's better than having to TP to other zone to receive your mail. I noticed it and thought 'oh great, finally!'

Sometimes it worked sometimes it did not.
On pc eu I bought something and didnt get my mail till I zoned.On pc na I got it instantly.Seems pretty much random like before.

Yup, still the same today: just left a trading guild and all 28 items immediately brrrrr'ed their way into my mailbox. Gorgeously instant!

Nope, no mail in inboxes - you probably have to view image to see it large enough to read that there's no mail in either box. I never keep mail around.

I thought they just hadn’t loaded properly because it also says, “Your inbox is full. Delete some messages to receive more.” The message itself must be an error; I was surprised when I saw it myself last night as I delete most mails after reading and had never gotten it before.

Ahh, I thought Imperial or Redguard and guessed wrong! IMHO, they are the most attractive humans while Bretons and especially Nords tend to boxy heads and beady eyes even at max eye size! Your character has lovely features and I like the combination of outfit and tattoo as well!

I have the same issue. The mail gets delivered instantly but is not shown in the mails list. Reloadui makes it show up and subsequent mails then get shown correctly until i zone.

I'm getting the sound notification instantly but it takes up to a minute for the mail to show in my inbox. I suppose waiting a minute and doing other errands still beats spending that minute in a load screen.

Hmm. I think I probably haven't waited around, just run to an Outlaw's Refuge. I'll have to try that.

I "work" in Vivic City. If I need to get mail in a hurry I fast travel into Amaya Lake Lodge just north of the city to preview it- one of the few houses I don't own. That forces the mail to come through. Then I go out the door of the house and get booted back to where I was in town to start with. Costs nothing and takes about a minute.

I bought like 5 things since the update, and it worked only once as intended (mail got delivered instantly). For the most part I see a notification & hear a sound cue, but mail does not appear. In fact all my mails are "gone" and I still have to change zone or /reloadui for the mail screen to load properly.

Well, I probably need to just wait instead of changing zones, from some of the other posts. I'll try that. These are the first times I've ever had a "full mail box" message in all the time I've played!

Also getting this problem. Bought an item from a guild trader, got the "you've got mail" sound instantly but no actual mail. My Inbox is empty. No issues with connection or speed. I had to teleport to another zone to actually get the mail. It then happened again when I bought another item.

same here. I tried putting in a bug report using /bug but couldn't find a option for mail. I decided to check again and it's there.

Agree, looks like it works well, mail from players are also pretty instant.
now I say its a bit weird you don't get the item you buy directly.
It might be issues there if two players tries to buy the same item at the same time but then the shop should not take your gold either. Game also checks if you have inventory space before you can open containers and you can not get items while in the shop interface other than buying so mailing stuff is a bit weird.

I'm PC/NA and the email appears straight after purchase is completed. I don't need to change map to open it and take attachment. I'm really very happy about.

I wonder why it works for some and not for others?

Sometimes the mail comes in immediately, but it seems like if I hear the sound and open my mail immediately, it breaks the UI somehow and it reads as empty but full (I never keep mail in my inbox, so it's definitely not full). A /reloadui fixes it without having to change zones and then the mails will show properly.
