I thought Deadlands was free if you own Blackwood?

I could be wrong . . . but I thought due to the Bounties of Blackwood event that if you participated (or even if you didn't) in the event, you got Deadlands for free. I logged onto the game to see it costing 2000 crowns in the store. Are you supposed to go somewhere else to claim it? I didn't participate in the event because I had taken a break over the past couple months, but had been told by many it would be free so long as you had Blackwood.

Did you collect the bounties of blackwood rewards a little back on crown store?

Yes that was the very odd part about it.

You had for a limited time the option to 'claim bounties of blackwood rewards' from the crown store, and part of that was unlocking the DLC.

But (for some reason) the reward was removed from the crown store because they didn't want to leave it there permanently I guess. So if you never logged on until very recently, you likely didn't claim the crown store items.

Definitely agree it was wierd. I wonder about the people who avoided rewards because of clutter and didn't know if was part of dlc promotion

You had to claim it before October 22 10am PDT which also came with a lot of box goodies.

Your friends should have told you that you would need to log on to claim the reward. All the event rewards have been this way and this one clearly stated so too, including when you claim it, that by doing so you would unlock Deadlands on your account. Sorry you missed it! You could submit a support ticket. I don’t know what ZOS’s policy is on claiming rewards like this when you otherwise met the criteria, but it wouldn’t hurt to ask.

That's saddening to hear you lost out on the DLC reward for Bounties of Blackwood, something similar happened to me on the NA server, where I don't main, after the first Elsweyr event. I didn't realise I had missed out on claiming the reward bundle on NA and mised out on some sweet stuff, like that pile of treasure for housing that I've found a fair few good uses for on EU. I didn't think to open a ticket about it, and I don't think I will bother ZOS staff with it actually, unless we get some confirmation that it's possible to have event reward bundles added in after they disappeared from the crown store. I'm hoping it's possible seeing someone else has been in a similar sad situation! <3

I'd suggest trying putting in ticket.

Be polite and explain you did not know you had limited time to collect bundle, or if I understood correctly you did not know at all you had to collect it.

If you're not adamant at getting entire bundle, bargain by saying you just want DLC.

Maybe ZOS will listen to reason and let you have it.

OP, that is definitely a bummer. This whole "claim your rewards from the Crown Store" thing made me realize I never claimed my "Lost Treasures of Skyrim" rewards which included a house, a pet, and a house guest.

I put in a ticket and said I've been subscribing since 2014 without any pauses, said I purchased Greymoor and gave my order #, to prove I had it before the event, and got back this response:

As the event ended in October of 2020, and the items could be claimed from the Crown store after the event and is no longer available to be claimed, we are unable to assist in granting the rewards from this particular event.

We understand that this is likely not the outcome you were looking for, and we apologize for any inconvenience.

Yes, I realize this was back in 2020, but it was CRAZY at work during this time and I just didn't catch on to the "claim the reward" part. I assumed my fawn would be ready when I felt like using it. I vaguely registered we were getting that stuff and thought "oh, that's nice!" ... and then went back to work.

I truly don't understand why they wouldn't be able to do this for loyal customers on the back end. In fact, WHY design it in such a way that it is limited time at all to those who are eligible? "No longer available to be claimed." OK... like they couldn't give every single Crown Store item EVER MADE to anyone with the click of a back end button. The house exists in the world and can be toured! It's..... RIGHT..... THERE....!

I think it feels extra frustrating as a customer because there's no guarantee the rewards will come back, EVER. I mean of course you can buy Blackwood, but the other things. Plus, it's not like it's a "while supplies last" type of thing. They can give out unlimited amounts of these rewards. OP, I hope you have better luck with your ticket.

    Oof.

So, the point of this kind of event design is to force players to engage with the Crown Store--if you get more eyes on that part of the game, you increase the odds that some of those eyes will see something they want to spend money on.

In terms of actually getting rewards to the players who participated, though? It's not great. Frankly, giving players like you who were motivated enough to submit a ticket (and who brought receipts like you did) the reward is a no-brainer, in my opinion. Otherwise, what's the outcome they're fishing for? That loyal players will get frustrated enough to leave?

Yep, it definitely is not leaving me with a good feeling. And I am someone who periodically shops in the Crown Store already; I don't need to be "tricked" into looking at it.

The other frustrating thing is that this was not how the other free house/event worked (https://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/news/post/54801 - note that it says rewards will be "delivered") so, while I can't argue that for these newer events they did not clearly post the updated instructions, it seems fairly reasonable to expect that some folks might miss the change in process. It simply wasn't intuitive to me to have to find the reward in the Crown Store because from a customer's perspective the newer model is definitely less nice and a step backwards.

    Oh, well...

If it can't be purchased then you own it. You can't go directly to the deadlands. You have to go to fargrave and walk to the deadlands to unlock a wayshrine there, or teleport to a friend in the deadlands.

It's only about "tricking people to go to the Crown Store" if you're cynical about that kind of thing.

I've seen games distributing promotional rewards/gifts/etc via their shops like this for years. Especially when the reward is a bundle (there was more in the reward here than just the DLC).

Sure, maybe they could have advertised how to claim the reward better - I only knew about it because of the forum. Of course, I also only new about the contest because of the forum too, so... /shrug

(and that's another point - if it was really about "tricking" people to go to the Crown Store and hopefully buy stuff, wouldn't they have put OMG GO TO THE CROWN STORE FOR YOUR PRIZES in giant neon letters across every game interaction people had? So that they couldn't miss it?)

It was, but many players are conditioned to ignore it outside of claiming their daily rewards.

99% of the time they are simply advertisements after all.
